## Description

Over a year on the New York Times bestseller list and more than a million copies sold. The essential universe, from our most celebrated and beloved astrophysicist. What is the nature of space and time? How do we fit within the universe? How does the universe fit within us? There’s no better guide through these mind-expanding questions than acclaimed astrophysicist author Neil deGrasse Tyson. But today, few of us have time to contemplate the cosmos. So Tyson brings the universe down to Earth succinctly and clearly, with sparkling wit, in tasty chapters consumable anytime and anywhere in your busy day. While you wait for your morning coffee to brew, for the bus, the train, or a plane to arrive, Astrophysics for People in a Hurry will reveal just what you need to be fluent and ready for the next cosmic headlines: from the Big Bang to black holes, from quarks to quantum mechanics, and from the search for planets to the search for life in the universe.

Review: Entertaining, illuminating and precise. - Our universe is an amazing ‘place’. It houses unimaginably large and strange objects. Since Galileo and Newton, we have come to know a lot about the universe. We have realised how insignificant our world is in comparison to the stellar objects it contains. At the same time, we have no clue about most things in the universe. Having a glimpse of what we know and what we don’t know can be a humbling experience at least and a mind-blowing one if you have a little more than a passing interest. In Astrophysics for People in a Hurry, Neil deGrasse Tyson has done a remarkable job at giving us that glimpse in a way everyone can understand. The book starts at the big-bang. “In the beginning, nearly fourteen billion years ago, all the space and all the matter and all the energy of the known universe was contained in a volume less than one-trillionth the size of the period that ends this sentence.” It explains how the universe expanded and what it contains now. Mr. Tyson ensures that what we don’t understand in the cosmos—things like dark matter and dark energy—are as interesting as the things we do have some understanding about—like stars, black holes, asteroids, planets, etc. Towards the end, he explains how our Earth might look to the aliens and how they might find us—if any intelligent life ever exists out there—before ending the book with thought-worthy reflections on the cosmic perspective. The book is thoroughly enjoyable even for someone who is not much familiar with physics. If you are someone on whom the night sky normally has a thought provoking effect, it is a must-read.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Read To Remember

NDT belongs to the icons of modern cosmology that has mastered the art of seeding interest in science among the masses. It takes truly prodigal skills to pack such an unbelievable amount of information about the cosmos into such a short book while making it enjoyable and undeniably beautiful in structure and composition. Even though I have my qualms with many theories on Dark Matter and Dark Energy put forward by the modern astrophysicists it is very refreshing to see NDT admitting that astrophysicists are quantifying the unknown fully acknowledging how irritating it is to put blind trust in front of rationality especially in the field of science which is built on accuracy and rationality. The feeling I get while watching NDTs shows as well as reading his book is that feeling of discussing mind bending theories with a friend over a glass of scotch and cigar. He is humorous in presentation, elegant in explanation and humanitarian in his explanations of the significance of insignificance. I only give four stars because I personally don"t agree with the whole Dark Matter hypothesis being remotely linked to the multiverse theories. That argument is a waste of everyone's time...
