Value for money.
Thank you Amazon. Marantz pm5005 has met my expectations. It's value for money. Working very well. Super performance for music lovers. I recommend it. It has provision for four speakers. It's an amazing product at entry level. However I now need a pair of Marantz acoustic speakers to match with Marantz pm5005. It's disappointing that it is not available on Amazon.

Perfect 2.0 integrated amplifier. Simple but best
Masterpiece in its segment with perfect ergonomics. Just go for it and watch out for good deals only on Amazon . You may get this at times close to 20K , although I got it quite expensive

A Winner
I am very impressed with this amp. The build quality is top notch. First quality materials and workmanship. From my short time with the amp quality control sems to be spot on as well. I am using the 5005 as part of a dedicated vinyl system along with an Audio Technica LP-120 Turntable, an Audio Technica AT-120e cartridge and a pair of Pioneer Andrew Jones FS-52 floor standing speakers(soon to be replaced by a pair ofELAC Debut F5's). I played a pretty eclectic selection of albums to run the amp through it's paces. I played albums from "The Planets" by Holst toBlack Sabbath, James Taylor to Jethro Tull, Goose Creek Symphony to Tower of Power, The Everly Brothers to Led Zeppelin. The 5005 passedthe test on all of them with flying colors. Great soundstage and a warm but clear sound. Highs didn't drop off, mids were clear and precise with great vocals and the low end was clear and strong without being over emphasized. The loudness control comes in handy but you will only need it at low volumes unless you want bass that will shake the room(or you want to tick off the folks in the apartment next door). IMO this amp is worth every bitof the asking price and then some. The only complaint(minor) that I have is with the remote. Marantz apparently decide to make one remote to control both the PM5005 amp and the CD5005 cd player. This gives you a remote that is 9" long and a bit cumbersome. I would have preferred they had made a dedicated remote for each device. The remotes could have been half the size and been a lot more user friendly. I know I'm picking nits with this but I really couldn't find anything else to grouse about. Without any reservations I strongly recommend the PM5005. This amp is a pure steal at $500.

Nice, but not the only game in town.
I bought this as an open box deal from Amazon. It has a great, solid feel but I was not "wowed" by the sound. There are some great features including gold plated connectors all over the place, but ultimately the sound did not seem to work for me/my speakers/room/sources/etc.I then purchased a Yamaha A-S301 from Amazon and was immediately wowed by its sound. It does not have the same tactile feel and luxe features of the Marantz, though it does have a couple of nice ones such as the well-implemented loudness control and a decent built-in DAC. I'm comparing these two models because they are the lowest-priced integrated amps from these two manufacturers. My neighbor, an audio engineer, came over to help me A/B the units. He agreed that they both sound good, but the Yamaha was more detailed and vibrant; he pointed out that the Marantz is probably more accurate, even though it sounds a bit muddier. Ultimately, I've decided to keep the Yamaha and return the Marantz.I'm listening through the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR Andrew Jones bookshelf speakers, so maybe I've simply found a good combo. Your mileage may vary.

.I Can't Believe How good my Music Sounds Now!
I just received my PM5005 earlier today. Removed my old receiver swapping wires from one unit to the other. The receiver I replaced is a 5.1 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD AV Receiver, I have only used it as a 2 channel stereo with 1 set of Bose 201 speakers and Polk subwoofer. I was happy with the Bose speakers but after reading reviews on the ELAC Uni-fi UB5 Bookshelf Speakers I ordered a set and received them last week. I hooked one of the new Elac speakers to the right channel so I can compare it to the Bose on the left channel. Well to my surprise there was really no jaw dropping difference of the Elac. Hmm? On further investigation I discover the Elac speakers are 4 ohms, I pull my receiver out and check the back to see what is the working ohms of this unit and it is 8 ohms. Ok so now what do I do? Send the speakers back to Amazon or look to buy a new receiver that you can use 4 ohm speakers on? Upon writing this review the Marantz is powering the Bose speakers to which it totally rocks out my mind! This integrated Amplifier is way more than I had ever expected. Even though this is considered a entry level unit, this unit will bring out the sound you have either wished for OR didn't know what was possible in audio equiptment. I put Led Zeppelin 2 on the turntable and played the song "Bring it on Home" well the Marantz sure did Bring it on home. I could hear everything with such clarity and separation coming out of those speakers like I had never heard! I did a sound check on my CD player of ZZ Top Deguello and Pink Floyd Animals sound was fantastic, the same with the cassette player totally fantastic. The Marantz will push the sound through speakers even though its rated 40 watts on 8 ohm speakers, I can tell you one thing the receiver I have never could get the volume I got from the Marantz and the receiver had a rating of 85 watts per channel. Makes me question if watts per channel means anything? The other thing that worried me buying this unit was will it have enough bass being there is no subwoofer input? Well let me say one thing about that, I was so plesantly surprised that those Bose speakers just thumped out the bass like never before. Tomorrow I will replace the Bose speakers with the Elac's!I will some this up simply, Very Happy! Surprised by how Great it has gave my music the sound that it was made to have.
