The Midnight Life

Quik is back! This album is really laid back and the sounds are just smooth and cool to chill with. Its a refreshing album during a much needed boost to hip hop. Quik was on sway just before the release and he was just saying its about time we hear some real music and I agree. The album deserves 4 stars and I think it deserves the support. Currently, its not doing well sales wise and its a shame because its better than the garbage coming out right now. Cop this and you'll have some funk to just jam to, some real music to just vibe to.#DeathRow

Yes, from the first song I heard with that instrument in it. I knew Quik was going back to his roots. Where I felt The Book Was David was more experimental production wise (great album by the way), this one took it back to the basics.Lyrics= B-Production= B+

QUIK is my favorite producer of all time. I was expecting some classic QUIK production but in reality it's just good which is a downgrade for QUIK. I bumped the cd all weekend just to soak it in. "BACON'S GROOVE" is hypnotizing! "TRAPPED IN THE TRACKS" actually sounds better coming thru my car speakers than when I 1st heard it. "THAT NIGGAZ CRAZY" is so tight. Suga Free's verse on "LIFE JACKET" along with a tight verse from DOM KENNEDY make that one of the best songs on the album. But tracks 9, 10, 11, & 13 are nothing special and a lil disappointing considering its a QUIK album. I was let down by "QUIK'S GROOVE 9" as well. It's by far!, his only subpar QUIK'S groove. I wonder if QUIK rushed this album. I still bought it and will continue to support QUIK but he needs to get 2ND II NONE back in his circle asap. That is when he's at his best when he has them and SUGA FREE around him. It's worth a purchase but not nearly on the mark QUIK has set throughout his career.UPDATE! I don't know what I was thinking. I listen to this now at least once a week. I love the production now. It has grown on me and I owe Quik an apology. I recommend any old or new QUIK fan to get this album asap.

this is a great album by a great west coast rapper / produceronly problem with my copy is that the cd case has a crack in the it thatmakes the background look like there is a lighting bolt on the upper right corner.

DJ Quik album... Nice production.. Well thought out tracks. Quik if you see this... Producing your tracks with women background singers throughout your tracks all ages throughout the tracks with the sleigh bells with a video showing bad ones in the studio and bad ones answering your phone calls and bad ones making business moves on their own.. So a mix of around the way girls and a mix of business oriented women portrayed in your videos ..all of them doing business with you. Just an idea. The flashy flashy is somewhat wack and now up to the time we have these bad ones looking at the sun moon and stars so... So these are the women I would say are up to the time. Smart and more well behaved. More rational and less irrational.. Big up yourself same time sir. Waiting for the next album to purchase.Please add a track with Jamaicans speaking patois over a real solid beat that people can dance to.. My guess you and J Cole or Your son and you... Or you J Cole and RaKim.. Or you and Rakim....all to a nice beat with someone singing jamaican patois straight from Jamaica... Respect... Next Album Cover for next album The Planet Saturn in background and 5 bad ones with banjos drum machines drums and guitars looking towards you and the sun As you orchestrate. One track with the artist Zero I believe from Houston and One track with Murda Mook or anybody from the east coast that normally freestyle battles... Respect

nothing like a producer who cares about the quality of his production. All of his cd's have excellent production value's. Sound quality is amazing as usual. If your a quik fan, this is a must buy.

If you're a fan of DJ Quik than you will surely like this album. A few good cuts in there, no major surprises. Does get the youngsters (DOM KENNEDY) on Life Jacket. A good buy.

Cd itself was in great shape. Sadly the music on it was a disaster. Not even close to his best work. Will not buy anymore of his work

de retour l'un des pionnier de la west coast revient ici avec un excellent album bien produit remplit d'instruments live et de boucle bien concu ce nouveau quik ne decoit pas ecouter life jacket ouencore the conduct avec mack 10 et vous pourrez comprendre la direction artistique de cette album vraiment un album a acheter les yeux fermé loin devant le peu de concurrence de cette année 2014

こんなジャケットを見て、このCDを手にする人なんてまずいないでしょう。多分そういう人には全く必要ないCD。しかし往年の彼のファンにとってはそんな不安は全く必要はありません。実はこれまでのアルバムのアウトテイク集なのかもしれませんが、これまでの彼のサウンドがギッシリ詰まった紛れもない彼の作品集です。もちろん彼の爽快なサウンドは随所にあふれています。個人的にはエルとのタッグが聴けるだけでもう充分です。願わくはこの曲が過去のテイクでなく、今後の共演への序章であって欲しいと。機材を売ったとか、逮捕されたとか、まさか新作が出るとは思っていなかった状況でのまさかのアルバム。

Hab es mir gekauft weil ich großer Quik Fan bin. Leider hat mich nur ein Song überzeugt das dies ein Quik Album ist, der Rest war einfach nur Autotune gelaber und Bass.Im großen und ganzen ist das Album ganz nett aber wer hier ein safe + sound Album erwartet (wie ich) sollte nicht zugreifen. Wer aber ein DJ QUik Fan ist sollte sich es wenigstens deswegen kaufen um seine DJ Quik Sammlung Vollständig zu haben.
