Lotus' new self-titled album moves in a decidedly more electronic direction than their last two releases (2008's HAMMERSTRIKE, 2009's OIL ON GLASS/FEATHER ON WOOD). Analog synthesizers, manipulated sounds, dub effects and heavy bass are balanced by horns and string arrangements in addition to Lotus's standard guitar/bass/drums instrumentation. Grooves range from slinky funk and gritty hall-time on the first half of the album to the beautiful and expansive closing track "Orchids."

Great album! If you like Lotus, this is a great Vinyl for collection.
Great album. One of my favorites from Lotus, along with Nomad. Don't have any complaints about shipping.. the album cover / case did have a small bend or crease on the top right corner. Most likly this occured during shipping I would think. Nothing that would make me send it back or spend the time to have it replaced. Vinyl was in good condition and sounds great. Only wish this was a book style album cover that opens up with one record on each side. Instead of the open up book style, botht he vinyl albums are contained in the same pocket (although they are in their own individual paper "sleeve" for each record. All and all, it's a great album and I'm very satisfied.

Lotus Delivers As Per Usual
I wouldn't say this is my absolute favorite Lotus record, but I will say that it's freakin' good. At first listen I had my favorites, but as I continue to listen the whole thing has grown on me to the point where I can't turn it off. A little mellower than what we're used to but it's a fresh take. Lots of guitar and keyboard influence and as always some funky beats. #5 The Surf is probably my favorite track off the record, but the rest definitely does not disappoint.

There are a couple of good songs on this album
There are a couple of good songs on this album. I purchased it to support the band. Having seen them in concert and after listening to many of their live recordings, I found this album to be a bit of a disappointment. But, that could be said about many of the bands in this genre. Seeing them live and in person is the way to go, with listening to a "live" recording as the next best. As with most improvisational artists, studio recordings don't always measure how good a band is organ be. There is something to be said about the symbiotic relationship between musicians and their fans at a concert that you can't quite grasp unless you experience it.

Can't stop listening!
I love Lotus, but I always used to think of them as one of those bands that I'd only care to see live. However, this album has totally changed my mind! Definitely a worthy self-titled album for one of the most innovative bands out there.

Great album, quality vinyl
Excellent album by Lotus, and a great quality vinyl pressing. I've been a fan of Lotus for many years and it's great to see them starting to headline music festivals.
