"Percale" vs. "Sateen" is a weave choice (crisp vs. silky), not a quality spec. Thread Count matters less than you think; it's become hyper-ventilated-hubris with a distinct downside. 1500 thread count sheets use a really, really tiny thread; do you think that just might affect colorfastness and durability? These are "Extra-Long-Staple" and "Sateen", so they are very high quality and very smooth.The fabric is beautiful, with substance; but I would not call it "thick" or "heavy". Yes they were slightly wrinkled but smoothed out after putting them on the mattress. These are after all 100% cotton. Yeah! I did not wake up hot and sweaty for a change. I'm so tired of buying sheet sets that say cotton only to find they are (blended MICRO fiber). The quality of this sheet set are very good. The elastic on the fitted sheet is actually sown in and wide to stay in place. My mattress is 12" so there was ample room to tuck in the sheets on each side and they don't slip out. They are soft, stay in place(even with my tossing all night), smooth non scratchy sheets. I am diabetic and have dry skin and these sheets are very comfortable and don't rub or slide all over the place. I cant say enough about these wonderful sheets.
