This is the Wrong Video Link But Watch Anyway. UFO Enthusiasts; this is B&W Documentary GOLD!
I clicked on this bc I'm a huge fan of Gillian Anderson and the X-Files, as well as all things UFO/paranormal. However, when I watched the video, it was a very old documentary from the 50s, mostly B&W that tells the story of a public affairs officer who works with the military and ends up with a front row seat to the UFO phenomena. It's a mix of acting for recreation and actual original footage. As a UFO aficionado, I knew some of the stories, but this was a front row seat from the perspective of the guy who had to manage the media's questions about it. He was a complete skeptic and thought UFOs were hogwash until his superiors informed him the phenomenon was real. As time goes on, he's called into situations as they are happening. He also details his experience learning from Project Bluebook leaders and experts until he, himself, is a bit of an expert. It's a time when the military took it seriously and treated the public with more respect about the issue - before it all got Blue-washed. I was expecting to rewatch an old fiction movie I'd forgotten about, but got the surprise of a lifetime as some of this footage is not canon but well researched and documented. It should have its own place with the correct information because this is B&W documentary GOLD. Esp given the new era of UFO exploration. Whoever hoodwinked me, I salute you. Best mistake ever!!

Good film
Getting harder and harder to find good films over the last 30 years and this is doubly so for Sci-Fi films. This film is much better then most films with 10x the budget I'm sure this film had.

Great movie!
Some people said the math was hard to follow so they didn't like the movie. I didn't think it was hard to get the ideal of it all! I would say some of the math was way to much of a guess to be correct but I'm not going to let that kill the movie for me!

Peek-A-Boo Aliens
It was a fun fiction movie and I may watch it again. The premise is the question "Are we alone" in the Universe. Well it would be completely arrogant to think we humans are the only intelligent life in the vast vast vast Universe full of trillions of solar systems. The movie contemplates that a more intelligent species from a planet far far away has found our little mote of cosmic dust and peeked in and left messages that only our brightest math students can decipher. It is fun to think this might happen but the possibility is very low and, why would they just pop in and out after traveling thousands of light years? Still a fun movie and hopefully inspires more students to study math and science.

If you love math, studious heros and big, universal questions, you'll love this
I'm a dedicated sci-fi fan, and when I saw that Gillian Anderson was in this film, I bit. She plays a supporting role, but the acting here is great, the characters very real and believable. And, so is the approach, which is more thought process and stepping stones than over-the-top special effects. Appropriate, because none were needed. In UFO, lead character Derek (played to excellence by Alex Sharp) finds himself studying a real-life mathematical mystery when he exposes a lie told by a CVG (Cincinnati/Northern KY International Airport) official regarding the nature of what is first reported as a possible UFO sighting nearby. Using mathematical skill along with a heavy dose of natural curiosity, Derek susses out the lie and goes off in pursuit of the truth at the expense of his studies.Finding a stern but eventual ally in Gillian Anderson's Professor Hendricks, Derek is able to mathematically pinpoint the next sighting. Along the way, he asks three big questions: One, is there a god? Two, what happens when we die? And three, are we alone in the universe? By film's end, we have a solid answer to the third one, and it's not by way of seeing little green creatures with big black eyes. That's called progress, and that is what this film is all about - incremental progress, intermixed with those giant leaps everyone hopes to see in their lifetimes.Thoroughly enjoyed this one! It's great for those who liked Contact, Good Will Hunting and A Beautiful Mind, and is perfect at those times when you'd much rather contemplate than simply be entertained.

Mediocre movie with a lazy, worn out plot
There are so many unexplored ideas concerning space and yet we get the same weak stories time and time again. If you've seen any movies or TV shows about alien encounters, you are going to be VERY DISAPPOINTED! You will not see a single alien in this movie, or even a spaceship -- only a fuzzy blob. SPOILER ALERT: (As if there was anything to spoil.) Childish college kid with above average math skills (not proven) uses basic geometry and poor analytical skills (made to seem impressive) to point out that the government is hiding the notion that a spaceship visited Earth. We all know that the government hides stuff, but what they did in this movie is too far-fetched. If a government employee told me to not talk about something seen by the public, or point guns at me and detain me for taking a picture of a publicly visible sight, I would first laugh in their faces and then sue them for loads of money. Writers such as the one that supported this movie, ought to save themselves some embarrassment by first telling the story to people who have at least some understanding of how the world works (or at least the country). Do you really thing that an alien race would waste the time and energy to travel very, very, VERY long distances to drop off a letter (or transmit a brief message) and then rush back home without even taking the time to determine whether the message was received and understood?! That would be the equivalent of writing "1 + 2 = 3" on a piece of used paper with charcoal, traveling to another country halfway around the world via walking and swimming, and then finally, wading up the note and dropping it in a busy plaza from an unmarked helicopter in a heavy fog, before rushing back home the same exact way to check your mailbox for a response.

Arrived, New, Very Good Price for a Very Good Film!
Arrived new for a very good price. Thoroughly enjoyed the film. A really nice understated, 'below the radar' Sci-Fi Flick. If you like films like 'Close Encounters' then you will enjoy this film. Well worth it!
