Animation Methods - Rigging Made Easy: Rig your first 3D Character in Maya Paperback – April 18, 2013

My first rig was a human rig with IK legs, and it walked like a dog with booties on. That was before I read this and followed it step by step. It clarified so many things (like how each type of constraint works and when to use which) in only about a day (which is how long it took me to read it straight through). Working through the material took a little longer, but it was so worth it. I can now rig pretty much anything (so far) with very few problems. I'd ABSOLUTELY recommend this for anyone who struggles with rigging. It will be a gateway to more advanced things, because you must understand the basics.

I highly recommend this book to anyone, who wants to learn and apply the most commonly used principles in today's 3D animation industry. This book is concise and worth buying. I believe that the author deserves the best recognition for his work.

What can I really say? Rigging is difficult and this book makes it straightforward, making a point to elaborate on specific steps and why they are important. This book demystified this subject for me, and hopefully will for you also. David Rodriguez clearly knows his stuff.

I am a 3D student, this was one of the best buys I could have made, helpped me obtain a B+ in my rigging class.Very clear and understandable, unlike technical director/teachers...even though he is a great teacher, (this is a great book for pencil pushers like me).

I would have given this book a better review but to be honest, I couldn't follow the book because the print quality was terrible. Most of the the time, the odd misprinted page doesn't bother me, but this is a technical manual. Some of the pages were so blurry that I couldn't look at them without a headache. Ten years ago, when my eyes were better this might not have bothered me, but it does now. This isn't a critique of Mr. Rodriguez's information, but the publisher's printing. If I were the author, I would be very upset with such a low quality printing.

Got this for my rigging class, great info and well written.
