Q: Can it be used on choking on saliva or liquids?

LifeVac is designed to be used in an upper airway obstruction when the individual is unable to breathe. If the saliva is blocking the airway and all other choking rescue methods fail you should go to the LifeVac. We have received post-market clinical reports that our product did open a patient's airway that was choking on mucus.

Q: Will they replace it when used, like they say on the website?

LifeVac will replace the unit free of charge if used in an choking emergency. The customer would need to go to our website directly and fill out the questionnaire "report a life saved". We will then contact you to confirm the details and send a new unit.

Q: Can this mask be used on babies? Would it fit an 8+ month old

LifeVac is equipped to be used on persons starting at 22 pounds utilizing the pediatric mask. Per our mask manufacturer's recommended guidelines 22 pounds is the minimum weight for the pediatric mask to fit properly. We have verified testimonials that the rescue device was used successfully as a last resort at the discretion of the parent to save their child.

Q: Has this device been been reviewed by medical professionals?

Yes, LifeVac has been thoroughly tested. The LifeVac unit has had two independent force tests. The results on the down push resulted in less than 1 mmHg of force, meaning that due to the valve /vent system the object cannot be pushed further in. On the suction, the independent test produced a consistent suction of approx. 300 mmHg, as this force is consistent with the body's ability to cough. The suction duration is short, and the volume of air is minimal, there is no indication of harm. In addition, testing has been conducted on a cadaver, anatomical models, and the analysis of case reports, literature reviews, and engineering testing. LifeVac is the only non-invasive suction device and only suction device with independent medical testing, 4 peer-reviewed publications, and abstracts proving safety and effectiveness.
