Fills in the protein gaps in my diet.
I started using the "My Fitness Pal" app to track my exercise and diet. I soon learned that I almost always have a protein deficiency when I'm dieting. This product offers an easy way to fix that problem. It tastes decent when mixed with water. It also works well in smoothies. I believe it gives me an edge when I drink it a few hours before I go to the gym. (Have you ever had a good day at the gym and then thought back to what you had to eat/drink that might have contributed to your increased performance? I've noticed what I believe to be a correlation with drinking muscle milk about 2 hours before I go to the gym. Nothing scientific here, it's just an "after the fact" observation that seems to be more than a coincidence. In other words, I don't think this is a self-fulfilling prophesy.) To describe the taste as chocolate is a bit of a stretch. It's not offensive, but it's certainly not like milk chocolate. I would rate the taste as a "C+". I buy this product because it fills in the gaps in my diet better than the other products I've evaluated. It's price/performance is the basis for my 5 star rating.

Good Stuff
I have been a gym rat for about 20 years and I've supplemented with protein most of those years. Some of the proteins I've tried tasted terrible, some turned out to have terrible ingredients. Being an engineer I research ingredients as well as taste. After a long search I settled on Optimum Nutrition. It has good taste and the ingredients have been independently tested for purity. It is quite inexpensive compared to high end protein powders like Syntha. I've used ON exclusively for close to 8 years. Then I found EAS at Costco and that was great too. Not only was the price good but the taste (highly subjective) made ON taste bad. I couldn't wait to finish my last bag on ON.Alas Costco stopped carrying EAS and now have Muscle Milk. Happily I find MM very comparable to EAS in taste and quality. I know some reviewers hate the taste but again this is very subjective. I use an electric protein mixer and I think it tastes like a shake. Amazingly good taste for a low calorie protein.I give it 4 stars because going by Amazon prices a 5 lb tub of ON is $45 (free shipping) with 120 servings so is about $.38 per serving. 6 lb of MM is $45 (with $7 shipping)at 78 servings so the cost is $.58 per serving. Sorry for the boring math but that's what we engineers do. I will continue to buy MM due to the superior taste but ON is the better bang for the buck.

Tastes Great. High Protein. Low Carbs. Mixes smooth
I am an elite athlete and I have been using this product for about a year. The taste and consistency are wonderful, particularly if you mix it in a blender, although a shaker still works well. I find it funny when I read some reviews complaining about the taste and texture. I assure you, the people who made these complaints have minimal protein experience. This protein is without question one of the smoothest, best tasting mixes I have experienced, and I have been big into protein use for nearly a decade. It mixes well with fruit, coffee, almond milk, or any of a number of combinations (although I recommend you take your wheatgrass separately). I tend to mix this product with some almond milk, a shot of espresso, some peanut butter, a whole banana, some honey, some chocolate syrup, and a few cubes of ice to produce a shake fitting for dessert (or breakfast if you're like me and you have a sweet tooth). My dad also uses this product and combines it with blueberries, strawberries, and other fruit for a nice meal replacement in the mornings.Fantastic stuff and the price is right. If you are looking to build lean muscle mass or replace a meal, I highly recommend this protein.

beware sucralose dangers
My husband used this product daily for the past six months and, despite a healthful diet and working out 5 to 6 days a week, he has experienced some scary health issues (unexplained depression, general feelings of hopelessness/flatness, fatigue and also insomnia, anger, etc.). I only recently discovered these issues were likely linked to this protein powder...most specifically, to the artificial sweetener sucralose. If you haven't explored the dangers of sucralose (generic name for Splenda), I urge you to do so. The dangers are real, the symptoms can be lengthy and extreme, and we have witnessed this firsthand, just as many others have, as well. After discontinuing use of this product, his symptoms subsided quickly. We have since switched to an organic, naturally-sweetened protein powder and have been pleased with the results. Please read about sucralose and understand the health risks. I assure you, they are real!!!

this tastes the best out of most that I have tried (MetRx is ...
I used to buy this protein powder from Costco but they quit carrying it so I purchased my last two bags through Amazon. In my opinion, this tastes the best out of most that I have tried (MetRx is also really good). Other than taste, the main reason I purchase this product is that it is Gluten Free. However, I am now becoming concerned about the fact that it has Soy Lecithin in the ingredients. Unfortunately, I believe I may also be developing a sensitivity to soy. If you don't have any food allergies or sensitivities, I would highly recommend this protein powder. If you do have food allergies....read the label and allergen warnings.

Good protein mix; slightly different recipe than previous product
This item had a different packaging than the same product purchased at retail stores with the "new design, same great formula" claim, but the size of servings and total amount of amino acids in this were different. The new packaging also illustrates the chemical formulas for the amino acids present instead of listing their contents, which is nice for a scientist but not at all functional for people intending to use the product for muscle building or weight gain. It was roughly half the net amount of protein as CytoSport's previous formula, but still a great product overall. Fine tasting, mixes easily.
