Worked well on a leaky light inside a hot tub
A leak developed around a large underwater light fixture that is in my Arctic Spa hot tub. I was looking for a sealant that would work well underwater, in warm water that has disinfecting chemicals in it. I read the reviews on the Boss 801 sealant and thought I'd give it a try. I drained the water in the tub until the light was fully exposed out of the water. I cleaned the old sealant away from where the leak wasoccurring and then let the area dry for the better portion of a day. I then ran a hair dryer over it to insure all the moisture around the light was gone. I then ran a new bead of the Boss 801 sealant around the light and smoothed the bead out. This sealant is very stick and starts to set up quick so you have to work fast. I then let the sealant cure for 24 hours. Then I filled the tub back up and ran the pump and heater for a few hours as it brought the water up to the correct temperature. It has been two weeks now and the area around the light is perfectly dry. The tube of sealant says it is also very good for sealing jets that are installed in your spa.

Leak proof
I liked this a lot ! I had a slow small leak in the light fixture conduit of my spa and tried some butyl tape for packing, which worked for about a week before the leak restarted. I cleaned out the butyl compound and applied this into the conduit thru the cable entrance behind the light, gave it 48 hours to cure and restarted my spa. That was two weeks ago, and after 120 degree temps in the spa for 4 hours of testing the seal held. Highly recommended!

The grip to plastic and vinyl sucks
Better off using a high quality saltwater aquarium silicone - that grips to plastics and glass and everything very well. This you can clean off plastics and vinyl and peel with your nails even after full 7 day cure so it won’t last like hoped - by comparison aquarium saltwater silicone - good luck getting that off it won’t happen - a good thing. Don’t know how the saltwater silicone would hold up to chlorine and heat but that’s better than a leak from not gripping the vinyl liner and Hayward wide mouth well enough - now I’m stuck with seeing how long it hopefully lasts. No leak for now but I anticipate one and I’ll be stuck buying a brand new liner when that time comes instead of a more permanent quality silicone - this is gummy and not strong as the price would say
