I lost the original bayonet mount for my lens and can't find another that will fit. So I got this, which is a screw in mount, 72mm; it seems well made of a fairly heavy plastic. I screwed it on and it goes on fairly easily, or at least as easily as a screw in filter would. Actually it goes on better because the threads are plastic, like the entire hood. You just have to be careful of the plastic threads so you don't cross-thread the hood and ruin the threads on the hood. But that is beneficial, because you will only ruin the threads on a cheap, replaceable hood rather than damage the threads on the lens. It's fitted on my Tamron 18-400mm lens and, when it's on, it does not cause any vignetting in the corners, even at 18mm. My only gripe, and it's not the fault of the hood, is that you can't store it by reversing it over the lens like you can with a bayonet mount. If I should lose it or break it, I will be more than happy to buy another one. The little cleaning cloth is a nice little bonus.
