## Description

Everyone who goes to Zallindov dies. Everyone, that is, except Kiva. Lynette Noni weaves a masterful and action-packed narrative that will take readers on a roller coaster of twists, turns, and thrills and sweep them up in a love story for the ages.

Review: I love Kiva. I love her story. I love everything about this book! - Lynette Noni does not disappoint in her newest release! The Prison Healer is poised to become on of my favorite series! There are so many twists and turns to this book! When you think you know what’s going on, Noni throws something else in there that just blows your mind! But I don’t want to spoil anything, which is really hard because all of the good stuff is spoilers! So let me just talk about the craft of the book. Noni successfully creates a world that is both beautiful and cruel within the prison. She inserts sounds and smells and textures that really bring the story to life and creates a sense of unity between the reader and Kiva. Most of the setting takes place within the prison, with the exception of a few flashbacks. But in the front of the book there’s a beautiful map that outlines the kingdoms of Wenderall. And I’m curious to see what the rest of the continent looks like outside of Zalindov. Along with the setting, the characters are well rounded and thought-out. Kiva is such an amazing character with layers of history and secrets that will surprise you. The other characters in this book are also very unique, with there own secrets and motivations, making this story ripe for fallout if everything comes to light. The story is told from Kiva’s perspective, which makes it all the more surprising when a new element is revealed that the reader should have known because it’s something Kiva knows. But I love that Noni uses third person perspective to give us that distance to keep her secrets close and not reveal anything too soon. Speaking of too soon, this book was over too soon! Not to say that the pacing was too fast. On the contrary, it was very well paced, with a two week gap between each elemental task to keep the suspense up. I’ve been reading a lot of fast-paced books lately and The Prison Healer wasn’t like that for me. The problem was me. I finished the book in two days because I couldn’t put it down! I wanted more! I still do! I contribute a lot of this feeling to the emotions in the book. Kiva has had to guard her heart since coming to the prison when she was only seven years old. Watching her interact with the other characters, trying to keep them at a distance so she won’t be in so much pain if she looses them, is something that just pulls at your heart. I love Kiva. I love her story. I love everything about this book. It ticks all of the boxes, and I can’t wait for the release of The Gilded Cage in October!
Review: Incredible read! - This book had a little of everything: magic, trials, yearning, and plot twists. Kiva, the FMC, had me hooked from the start. I was so intrigued by her backstory and how she came to be The Prison Healer. And then when Jaren, the MMC, entered the picture, it just thickened the plot even more! I was especially fond of Tipp. Even though he was only 11 years old, he seemed so mature and wise for his age. Despite everything he’d been through, he still kept his effervescent personality. He was truly a little beacon of joy. There were only two things I wasn’t fond of. First, when Kiva uncovers a hard truth about Jaren and resents him for it, I was honestly irritated with her. It felt hypocritical—especially since she was the one who insisted from the beginning that no one ask how the others ended up in Zalindov. But the moment she learns his truth, she immediately treats him differently. Second, the repetitiveness about her family coming to rescue her. We get it… they’re coming. BUT I was not expecting that ending! It had me SCREAMING out loud!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great storytelling and world building

Wow. This book drew me in from the first page because of the writing style. I love high fantasy and especially where the language also takes me away from the modern and contemporary . But above all, I loved the lack of swearing and f bombs. I hope she continues this way in the upcoming books. Now those were the things that drew me in on a superficial level. Once I got into the substance I was blown away. Very well constructed world and plot. It was like many layered rose and each time I peeled off a layer I was reeled in further and was gobsmacked by what lay beneath. As I started it was easy to put it aside and sleep but as I peeled off more of those layers I started sleeping later and then I just had to finish it before I could sleep a wink. Kiva is a heroine well worth the pages dedicated to her. She is so layered that by the time the book finishes we are still peeling her open and getting amazed, impressed and shocked at what is revealed. At times I had an inkling of how it might all work out in the beginning but I got so distracted as the plot unrolled at breakneck speed. I was amazed when those earlier suspicions I had dismissed started, in one moment, to look probable and then, in the next, flipped to improbable and then at the end true! Thank you Noni for a heroine I can root for. She was pragmatic focused and even when it would have been normal for her to lose focus as the situation changed she remained set on her path. You chose to refrain from giving us a heroine driven primarily by emotion and for that I applaud you. That ending blew me away and I decided I couldn’t wait 6 weeks to get the library copy of the second book. I bought it and will catch up with the library on book 3.
