Works great..
Works great...easy setup and very long battery life.. (Haven't tested 4G feature)I bought this to replace my old(Faulty) D-link travel router and I was surprised how this little router outperformed the D-Link straight out of the box.For the price it is an excellent value for money.

Insufficient power output to USB port.
Does not supply enough power to the USB port to power a 4G modem. Any 4G modem connected to this router over the USB constantly disconnects due to lack of power. The issue exists regardless of whether or not the router is plugged into a power source.

Low cost, multi-talented, portable Wi-fi router and DLSR camera controller.
A wondrous low cost small gadget that was designed to be a portable, battery operated Wi-fi hot spot. Coupled with a 3G/4G USB card, it can give a completely mobile hot spot. Even better, when its BIOS is flashed with a special WRT BIOS, it becomes a DLSR camera controller that allows a Nikon or Canon DLSR camera to be wirelessly controlled by an Android (or possibly iOS) camera control app. Considering its very low cost it is a wonderful alternative to the very expensive OEM solutions from Nikon or Canon that can cost $1,000+. I successfully used it to control my Nikon D810 from my Android tablet. Do a web search for "TP-LINK TL-MR3040" and DLSR and you find several articles on how to flash the BIOS for camera control use.

Bought to add WiFi to my Canon 5DII. Does the job at 10-20% of the cost of the Canon-branded solution.
Bought to add WiFi to my Canon 5DII. Seems to work well but users should expect a 0.5 to 1.0 delay in relaying commands to the camera and receiving images back.

Nice modem but...firmware not compatable with usb760
I really like the size of this modem, plus it has a battery built in to give about 2-3 hours of use... You can also plug it into A/C, or power it with a usb cable right from your laptop... The problem is with customer support.... These people try, they try hard but don't speak English well enough to communicate over the phone... E-mail is better but they are slow to respond... The problem I had was with setup... I'm using a Verizon (Novatel) usb760 modem and spent hours and hours trying to configure this router... It would identify the modem but would not connect... I tried everything!! Problem solved.... I went back to the tp-link website and downloaded the old firmware and installed it on the router... and now it works like a champ... BTW I did this on my own... tech support was of no help... So, if you buy this and your using a usb760, it ain't gonna work with the firmware installed... It's not a big deal to change it... just saying....

The router works as advertised - it's fairly easy to set up, and once set up, works very well. I would - and have ;-) - bought more of them!
