Needs a scrub and seasoning at first.
This is a great Dutch oven! It is huge, but can be used for just about anything. We've used it for jambalaya, gumbo, sauces, posole, and other things. Note: even though the description states that it is preseasoned, it was still rough out of the box. We had to scrub it with steel wool to remove rough particles from manufacturing, and then we had to coat it with oil and season it again in the oven before use.

It's amazing if you know how too season it the right way.
Boil water and dump. Heat to dry both pot and lid. Apply cooking oil to rag and wipe down pot and lid with rag covering entire pot and lid.

A true 12 quart Dutch oven
Made a jambalaya that required about 11 of its 12 quart capacity, perhaps a little more. It performed admirably. Downgraded it a star to 4 because it has some rough patches, unlike every Lodge cast iron I’ve ever used. Lodge and most others don’t make them this large though. So for 12 quarts, here’s your product.

Great Wide 12 Qt Pot
Wider than my previous 12 Qt pan, but cooks great over a fire and on a stove. Really enjoyed using this pot.

Works as one would expect.
Bought this item Dec 2011 for 63.32$. Works exactly as you would expect it to. Not much to a cast iron pot. Very satisfied with this purchase.
