I still made the right choice, 2 years later!
I chose this offering when looking for my first seat because of the solid structural design. I was guessing that a simulation should "simulate" the real thing, lol. That means "ZERO" movement in the steering column. The pictures showed that I could omit the bumpers on the bottom of the frame, etc. to directly bolt it down, to achieve a more rigid package. The video reviews online exposed lateral movement in the steering column. RaceRoom sells a kit to address the movement, but I opted out because it looked inadequate for the job. The seat portion does allow me to omit the bumpers, but the steering column does not. The bolts for the bumpers are not installed through the bottom of the frame like the seat, but are welded to the frame on the bottom. I cut these off and drilled through the frame. This allowed me to lag bolt the frame to the floor, thus producing a steering column with "almost" "ZERO" movement. I'm VERY PLEASED with the end result after my alterations. And, the seat is awesome with the slider adjustment option!*UPDATE* 16/Oct/2014: I'm now purchasing The monitor bracket for $59.99. I just discovered there's an entire flight sim universe, lol! I've always enjoyed flight sims too. I had the original Microsoft flight sim. Then, A Century of Flight and X-Plane 9. But this stuff got really cool for us average-Joes' lately! Saitek has an entire line of controls and instruments and X-Plane 10 has a 64-bit version that supports all my processor cores and my 32gb of quad-channel memory! The graphics should be outstanding, lol! I'm going to take my racing-rig and make it modular. In less than 2 minutes, I'll be able to go from a driving simulator, to a full-instrumentation flight sim! I've already ordered all the stuff from Amazon and other various places. The Race Room monitor bracket will be attached to the back of the: "Startech RKLCDBK VESA Monitor Mounting Bracket" I'm using for the project. I have software from a company called: "Panel-Builder" that allows me to build an instument panel on a small monitor, with my choice of placement, etc. That monitor then gets built into my custom-built slice of a Boeing 737 commercial jet cockpit. I will make cut-outs and trim around those instruments, etc. That will then become part of the stack of Saitek pro flight panels. When finished: It will apear as though I've installed thousands of dollars of fully-functional navigation equipment into my flight sim, when I only paid $90.00 for the software and $110.00 for the 19" Dell monitor, lol!The Race Room system has once again proven to be a great choice! The ability to obtain support positions for my flight panel module, and the stellar stability and strenghth of the structural design elements of their system are well worth the price of admission!!!! 90% of my shipments are coming today and I'll be sure to upload pics soon!THE SURROUND VIEW Racing/Flight RIG AT PRESENT:LIAN LI Pitstop BLK Test BedGIGABYTE GA-X79-UD5 Socket LGA 2011INTEL CORE i7-3820 3.6 GHz 10MB2 Patriot Viper Xtreme 4 Series 16Gb Quad Channel DDR3 18662 OCZ 240Gb SSD's Raid-01 OCZ 60Gb SSD Windows 8 PRO2 ZOTAC AMP!
