I couldn't put it down
I find the extreme variance in the reviews interesting. I rarely give books five stars. The reason I'm always reluctant is because I've read some really good books--books that have made me look at the world in a whole new way. This is one of those books. If you're looking for action, there is action--and it's not ridiculous, it's realistic. If you like mystery, this book has it. If you're about character development, you will grow to love the characters. What motivates us? How do bad people justify their actions? They're not bad people. We all lie to ourselves.I can't just keep heaping praise, though. I do have a single gripe--the editing needs work. I encountered numerous instances of errors in this publication. I can't imagine anyone editing this book could have truly tried actually reading it. That said, I don't want to give the impression that the text was riddled with errors. But some items were overlooked that shouldn't have been. But, despite that minor criticism, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I can't imagine it needs a sequel, but I truly want to know what happens next with the characters in this story. I want to know how their lives turn out. Now that's a good book.

Fragmented and Uninteresting
The setting of Adrift is a tour-bus like spaceship, intended to ferry tourists about so they can look at a space station, or have views of the Horsehead nebula. Kind of an interesting setup but then disaster strikes, in the form of a devastating attack on the space station and damage to the tour-ship, and the book just devolves into an incomprehensible mess. There are 5 or so POV characters and each ~8 page chapter features a different POV. Like other reviewers I found my self skipping forward page after page to find a thread of action I understood. At about 2/3rds through I gave up.

Boring is too nice a description.
This book took a long time to go nowhere. Extremely boring with only a couple of chapters worth reading. Too much of nothing going on for long periods of time. With very rare exceptions the characters could have been killed off very early and not effected the story. The ending leaves you wondering what happened between the final two chapters. The story began with an interesting premise and had great promise but it failed to deliver. Further C. Clarke had a much better story with "Moondust" as did Jack McDevitt with "Moonfall" and James White with "Lifeboat". Only buy this book if you have insomnia and need a sleep aid.

Review: Adrift
I loved Adrift. Loved the plot arcs and the split between four or five narrators as they tell the story of this small group of terrified passengers and staff. Loved how real the characters were as they deal with the stress and horror of being stranded and alone, surrounded by wreckage. Loved the pacing of the reveals and the constant switch between villains and heroes. All in all, a great book that will keep you on your toes until the very end.

Adrift by Rob Boffard, a perfect non-complicated escape story ...
ADRIFT by Rob Boffard is a delightful space story, perfect for young teens who want a good beach book ... total escapism, thinking not required ... no names, words to memorize, look up ... also perfect for the older generation (like me!).

REALLY IRRITATING PEOPLE
The story was OK, but I found the characters really difficult to root for.

Awesome suspenseful story !
From the beginning, this book had me hooked. I like how the story starts off slowly ho hum and then takes it into overdrive. You quickly get attached to the characters, especially the unlikable ones.Loved the ending too...get this book!

A snooze
Adequate was my first thought on finishing this mildly thrilling thriller. Exactly the same opinion I had on reading Tracer by the same author. Unconvincing sci-fi and just not working for me.Ray Smillie

Stranded Story With A Few Twists and Turns
The story takes the standard form for those familiar with the genre whether sea, subs or space. The character setup at the beginning is thankfully solo. However this means that the other characters are introduced as the story runs after the stranding. They're reasonably well drawn for an SF book and motivations for their actions are eventually elucidated. There are some twists in the tale, and a few coincidences, but nothing outside the familiar tropes. The protagonists are perhaps a little too adept at working unfamiliar tech than would be likely but all in all the story moves along well and reaches a satisfactory conclusion.

Deducted stars for far too much bad language.
A galloping galactic romp, spoilt for me by continual use of foul language, completely unnecessary, has totally put me off buying anything else written by this author.

Another un-put-downable book from Rob Boffard
A really good read. I would, however take issue with the “old woman” being 65!
