Delighted!
I am a middle aged women who hasn't touched a LEGO since I was a little girl. That being said, I had such a fun, and relaxing time building this VW Van! I had some initial guilt about spending that kind of money for what I felt was basically a 3D puzzle. I've always loved VW Camper Vans, have owned one in the past, and decided to try something new. This LEGO set is completely worth the price! The detail is great, and the way it goes together is ingenious! Let me clear up a few things that I read in other peoples reviews:1. Before you start building, you need to separate the pieces by colors. I suggest using several [[ASIN:B0000DIWQO Ziploc Container Large Rectangle 76 oz Containers 2 ct. Since they are long, you have the room to easily move pieces around to find the one you want. If I had to do it over again, I would use two containers for the white pieces, one for the small pieces and one for the larger pieces.2. The instructions are large, easy to read drawings. You don't even need to read English, you would just have to know your numbers. It takes you step-by-step, and I never was confused by them.3. I was not missing one piece! Not one! I'm still amazed by this. At the end of the second instruction book, each piece is pictured, with an individual number, and how to contact Lego if you need a replacement piece.4. The wheels are sturdy, and smoothly roll across a surface. I read several reviews that state their wheels didn't roll. Maybe they have an older model, or didn't build it correctly.5. The front part of the roof is delicate, and once in place I won't be moving it. The longer back half of the roof is solid, and this is the section you take off to look inside. The camper top that pops up works smoothly, and is incredibly designed. This set gave me hours of enjoyment. LEGO's got me hooked, and now I've ordered the Simpson House! I've got something to look forward to when winter hits.

A few very minor flaws but otherwise a superb set that's a blast to build
The original CREATOR set. This is by far the largest, most detailed LEGO set I have built and it provided me with nearly a week of evenings savoring the build. It's amazing how LEGO manages to capture the shape and feel of the subject out of its existing inventory of pieces. This is definitely a 16+ age rated set. There are two volumes of instructions, and even being as careful as I was, there were three or four times I had to backtrack either because I missed putting a piece in its proper possible or because I found I was missing a piece and wanted to make certain I didn't simply put the piece in earlier where it didn't belong. I did end up with four missing pieces (one red-brown circle from the dash and three tan 1x squares from the roof rack. I contacted LEGO and they gladly offered to send replacements. There's been a comment or two about how the roof doesn't stay on well. In case there's anyone out there who hasn't already figured this out, the two roof pieces are loosely attached by design to allow for views of the interior. The sticker sets are tricky. The clear window overlay stickers (two front and one rear) are a bear to locate properly and, because of the adhesive, repositioning the clear sticker causing the sticker to "fog". I commented to LEGO about that and they said they would passed along the critique (no doubt not the only one they have received).Again, this is a great set, one I would definitely buy and set aside for later building and rebuilding and/or for your kids, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc.SUGGESTION: Get a Stanley Storage Organizer and sort the pieces before you start the build. Afterward, you can use the Organizer for other purposes or store the LEGO kit pieces if you don't plan to display it forever or for moves.

My first Lego kit
I never played with lego's as a kid. My mom said they were "boys toys" and I wasn't supposed to play with legos. So now I'm older, have my own money and can do what I want. When my husband and I went to the local Lego store because he wanted to look at the Star Wars kits, I instantly fell in love with this kit. I was also shocked by level of detail in it because I didn't realize Lego made such sophisticated kits and assumed they were all for kids or pre-teens.So after having bought this and spent a weekend putting it together I'm even more impressed. The fold down bench to make a bed, the sink, the engine compartment with an engine in it and then the fact that they even had curtains for the windows? Wow!No missing pieces like I read in reviews for other kits. There were only 2 disappointments, but they aren't such a big deal that I can down-rate this. One was that my husband was hoping it came with a male/female hippy so it could be he and I, but I told him we could run by the Lego store to get one or maybe find one on Amazon. My disappointment was the external sideview mirror. If you can give me mirror sticker to make mirror for inside the van, can't you do the same for the side mirror? Instead it is just this big, grey round piece. It just didn't make sense to me that they put all this detail into the outside of the van and other parts, but just left that one plain. But I loved this kit and it has made me into a Lego fan. I just wish I had the shelf space to buy more of them!
