You put that lip into the groove and spin the earpad until it's fully attached. I hope this explanation helps! It shouldn't very complicated as long as the headset has said groove. **Q: Does this come with both ear pads as a package or do I need to buy two?** A: It comes with both ear pads, so no need to purchase two. **Q: How do you deep clean these? They are fine other than I exercise and they unfortunately start to smell.** A: Mine was peeling. Nearly 4 hours daily with the long commute.Finally the ear pads wore off and flapped about. So I ordered these. The removal of the old ones was simple enough.The installation of the new ones was a bit tricky at first. I was trying to slowly get the ring of material into the slot by trying to stretch the material. The technique that I found that worked was feeding the "lip" into the slot and slowly twisting, as if I was screwing on the new pad. This caused the material to slowly feed into the slot. The end just required a slight change by shimmying or twisting briefly on one direction before switching to the opposite direction.Aside from the small amount of frustration getting these on, they are just as when I first bought the headset.
