MY GOSH IT WORKS!
🚗 What Is It? The OTTOCAST Mini is a compact USB dongle that converts wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems into fully wireless experiences. Once plugged into your car’s USB-A or USB-C port, it uses Bluetooth and high-speed Wi‑Fi to connect your smartphone seamlessly—no cables needed. ✅ Pros Fast & Reliable Connection Boots into CarPlay in roughly 21 seconds—on par with leading adapters . CD-quality audio via 5 GHz Wi‑Fi delivers crisp sound—“10× sharper than basic Bluetooth” Smooth Experience Touch interaction and navigation are highly responsive, with minimal lag Bluetooth 5.0 ensures stable auto-reconnect and reliable calling performance Compact & Flush Design Slim profile allows it to sit discreetly in your USB port without protruding—great for tight spaces Wide Compatibility Supports iOS 10+, Android 11+, and claims compatibility with over 98% of wired CarPlay/Android Auto vehicles ⚠️ Cons Switching Between Devices Isn’t Instant A physical pairing button exists, but it’s limited: rather than switching immediately, it disconnects and falls back to the last-used device—double-tap doesn’t swap phones quickly Occasional Fluctuations Some users notice intermittent audio skipping or blank map tiles, though reconnecting the dongle fixes most issues reddit.com Limited Advanced Settings The IP configuration interface is basic, lacking options to optimize settings like latency or media delay 🛠️ Summary & Recommendation The OTTOCAST Mini offers an impressive wireless upgrade for your CarPlay or Android Auto setup: reliable connection, fast performance, and a sleek design—all at an accessible price (~$60). If your routine involves switching between multiple phones, the limited device-switching button could be a minor inconvenience, and occasional glitches may require a quick reset. Ideal for: Anyone seeking a tidy, cable-free setup with top-tier audio and fast connectivity. Consider alternatives if you need: Instant, one-touch multi-device switching Fine-tunable latency controls or pro-level settings Pro Tips for Best Use Update firmware upon receiving the unit to minimize hiccups. Place the dongle flush in the USB port to avoid accidental disconnections. If you experience occasional audio skips or map issues, a quick re-plug fixes it 99% of the time. 📌 Final Verdict The OTTOCAST Mini is a smart, low-profile solution that almost effortlessly upgrades wired CarPlay to wireless. For most drivers, the convenience, performance, and price make it a great upgrade—just don’t expect flawless device-switching or advanced tweaking out of the box.

Solid connection
Perfect for eliminating the cord. Only complaint, and it’s not a big deal, is there’s a little lag when loading Apple car play. Maintains a solid connection with no signal loss. Perfect for people who want to connect more than one device.

Works well with quirks
My 2024 Mazda CX5 has android auto and apple carplay but only over USB. Setup was mostly easy but you could tell there was some jankiness with the android connection and wifi stuff. Not really ottocast's fault. Wireless works well and turns on and connects really quick. Maps and other apps are smooth and responsive. About 1 in 5 times the music has this weird skipping thing ever several seconds. It usually goes away during the next startup. No idea why that happens. The only "bad" thing is that the unit's wifi stays on after the car is off ....probably for a certain amount of time depending on the car model. For the Mazda it's about 5 to 10 minutes so when you leave the car but stay in range, it can really delay your phone connecting to your home wifi which is annoying. It's also annoying when someone else is driving the car and you're staying at home. Your phone will try to connect to the car and drop your home wifi. I think the WiFi/bluetooth signal on the unit is a far too strong.

Easy install, small unit that's out of the way!
Delivered at 11:46 am, installed and running by 11:50. It couldn't be easier! I bought this to replace a Motorola MA1. I like the MA1 but the size is awkward for my car. That unit has a long cord and hangs down into the dash tray. What I like about the Ottocast is it's simplicity in setting it up. Just pair the phone with it, and you're done. It's smaller, so it doesn't hang down. It comes with an adapter so it can hug the dash instead of sticking out, and it connects much faster. Great little unit at a great price!

Garbage
This is yet another example of cheap garbage. Did not work out of the box with either my Iphone or my Google Pixel 9 running the Android OS. Took the time to update the firmware on it, and it still sits on the Bluetooth joining screen for as long as 20 minutes. Looked online and couldn't find this specific device on the Ottocast website, nor could I find a single setup video for it anywhere. This is absolute junk, don't waste your money.

Great price for a great device
What a very affordable price for a very convenient device. I was using a cable before on my Subaru WRX, and it seemed to get in the way a lot when I was trying to shift gears. So, I bought the ottocast. I add read that it had five star reviews, and I agree and also give it five stars. The sound quality is better than normal Bluetooth. Functionality, it's literally just plug and play. And every time I turn on my car, it takes a few seconds and then it's connected.

More trouble than wired for me
This seemed great out of the box. I really like how small it is and it provides an l shape adapter. It started off pretty strong. Then, it randomly started giving me a black screen in the middle of a drive. It also didn’t mute Sirius XM when I tried to do a voice command. I can do that with my wired CarPlay. It stayed on while I charged my car (which isn’t the case for all cars), but it was an annoyance for mine. Having it be wireless but with these inconveniences was more inconvenient than just plugging my phone into my car.
