It is a great vice does what i need for the price. out of the box a little tight at first to seperate. once you get it appart and clean and oil, no more issues. works great for me.

Works well. Wish I would know about the device earlier on. Helps to take the headache out of matching ends for soldering.

The media could not be loaded. ****UPDATE***YES , Definitely take this thing apart and clean it . I took the thumb screws off and separated the pieces from the shaft, laid them out on a towel in the same order that they came off so it was easy to reassemble . Although if you can't get it back together the right way you probably shouldn't be using this tool . All the parts fit together only if you have it reassembled correctly. I cleaned all the component shafts With Q tips and oiled rags . It makes a huge difference . There are still occasional resistance when you're sliding the shafts but they go really smooth comparably speaking . I used two stroke engine oil that I got from the local auto parts store . Keep it well oiled.I give it four stars because of the cheap packaging, and it's kind of hard to work the metal slides from time to time. It's performance as the tool that has been advertised to be is good; it does work well. Couple days and I've done a lot of cutting and sanding and working with the device and it does make things easier. Due to the packaging, mine had some damage that I explained in the videos.As people have stated, it can be hard to open and adjust the slide pieces. Mine has slots on the side for each of the panels that makes it easier to grip and have leverage to slide it along the shafts; but they're still very stiff. I find that if it's in the open position and won't close because it's binding up, I just use the thumbnail screws to tighten it down. Kind of a pain that does work.

I shoulda listened to the other reviews about it being so tight you can’t slide the bars open. It took awhile and various tools to get it open then we used wd40 and couldn’t get it closed, once we got it closed we couldn’t get it open again, we ended up taking a dremel to the pegs and still struggled, then realized it’s because the pegs aren’t perfectly straight which creates the tightness so we ended up pinching them together and now it kinda works….shoulda just got the one from riogrande

Received my vise yesterday. Took me about an hour just trying to get the vise open. After tearing up all my fingers, finally had to get a butter knife to pry the thing open. Closed it back up, then couldn't open again. After getting open for the second time, decided to oil it to death, now it's easy to open. Secondly, one of the screws that you use to tighten the lil wrench in for length on one side is about 3 mm too short, so that side is totally useless. So I just ordered another one from a different vendor. Maybe I can take this one to a hardware store and find the appropriate size screw. Not even worth trying to return this.

I love this. Iake jewelry and this tool makes filing a straight edge or a slanted edge extremely easy. I highly recommend this item.
