Paper Girls Volume 5

Really starting to narrow the story down...
Seeing as this is the penultimate story arc in the Paper Girls continuity, we finally get quite a bit more closure; some understanding to the correlation of events. Especially after spending the previous four volumes piling on the questions, this is a welcome change of pace. A conclusion is in sight. No spoilers, but the world of Paper Girls itself feels a lot less vast and cumbersome. Whereas, before I was wondering where the hell this story was headed; now I'm mostly left wondering how the hell we're going to get there. I really thought things were tied together nicely here, and it was a very enjoyable volume with more stellar character moments and revelations. The girls were always the core of the story; their banter is amusing, and characterization is mostly believable. Not my favorite volume, but as far as execution and "hunkering down", Volume 5 really hauls ass. The art continues to please. Can't hammer that in enough. I would really love this combination of artists in future stories after Paper Girls. It's a really nice style. Home stretch. Sad to see it go, but also glad the team's fixing to conclude this one before it gets too muddled.

LOVE this
Absolutely love this series! The story line is awesome with bad ass women characters on an amazing adventure through time. The art is absolutely breath taking! I cannot wait for the next one.

Anything Brian K Vaughan write is worth your time.
Great story, great art. A bit confusing if your reading the single issues. And waiting for. A month for the next. That’s why I got the trades. Better flow with the trades.

Paper Girls, vol. 6
I feel like we’re closing in on the conclusion here. My complaints of precious volumes remain here. It’s still ok.

Volume five in the series of paperbacks collecting the comic 'Paper Girls.' The story of four 1980s girls caught up in a time travel mystery. This contains issues 21-25 of the comic. It is not a jumping on point. New readers should start with volume one.It divides all the issues up with chapter pages, so you can see where they end and begin. As usual, it contains strong language and adult themes, so is only for mature readers.Following on from the end of the last volume, the girls - plus one - are in the future. Where some of the time travellers come from. It's a chance to find answers. And to solve problems. But some painful lessons await...The mixture as before, really. But still brilliant because of it. Great art. Strong characterisation. And a narrative that does give you a few more answers and surprises. Whilst ending on another huge cliffhanger. It impresses because you can see how things from earlier books were relevant and important. And the character stuff has some really great points. As the two Tiffanys see things from different perspectives, and KJ and Mac try to fight destiny, there are some moments that really pack a punch. Not least a couple of really big shocks in the final part.Another great entry in this series. Roll on book six.
