Large Brass Claddagh Door Knocker

Such a beautiful door knocker!! I absolutely love it. It’s really nice quality and has a lot of weight to it. Doesn’t feel cheap like some do. Easy to install and has nice decorative caps for the screws that go into the back of the door. I highly recommend it.

I bought one of these as a gift for a neighbor and it is so great looking I bought one for myself!The proportions are perfect for a Claddagh ring. I’ve seen others that just don’t look right because the ring is too thin or the engraving and molding look awkward. This knocker is perfect.The whole thing is really heavy solid tarnish-proof brass. Installation is a little different from some others I’ve seen – instead of fastening with screws, holes are actually drilled through the door and the knocker and stud are fastened with two small bolts. It’s very secure.BE AWARE: the supplied bolts are plenty long so it can fit a really thick door, but you may have to cut and shorten the bolts if your door is a little thin.Also, it’s not just an ornament for your door - it actually is a practical door knocker. When the ring taps the stud, it makes a pretty loud noise.It comes in an attractive presentation box and makes a very, very nice gift.

I purchased this knocker to replace a 92year-old knocker bc i was having a new door installed. It was installed by the professional working on the renovation project. He agreed with me that it was cheaply made. While it looks pretty the knocker portion hangs loosely and moves whenever the door is opened or shut while the old one was more steady. I plan to try to reinstall the old knocker though spread for screws is different. Examine it closely before you hang it. I was not aware how loosely the knocker hangs until it had already been installed.

I was VERY pleased with this purchase. I ordered it for my daughter whose birthday is on St. Patrick's day, plus she is closing on her first new home on her birthday. It is certainly a WOW !
