FOXBC2 Pack Planer Drive Belt 5140010-28 Replacement for DeWalt DW735 DW735X Planer

Broke a belt. First one in about 8 years Replacement belt is frustration all the way. You can get it on but have to be very patient work slowly and hang in there it can be done. It works very well. Very happy..

Given that an Dewalt 735 planer's OEM belt cost 10x, I had to try an alternative. Picked FOXBC because they had a video on their website. Tried to install per the website's video and other youtube videos and no luck. Finally, using just brute force and a flat screwdriver, it went in. Given how much tension (I don't recall it was this tight with the OEM belt) there was, I wondered if it would get hot. Test running the planar with the guards off and using a laser themometer gun aimed at the cutter pulley, it seems to peak at around 180F free running. So far everything seems to be fine and hopefully it'll last.

this replacement belt fits the 735 planer perfectly. the installation is simple and straight forward.great price and now I have a spare belt on hand.

Putting it on is a bit of a challenge but that's no fault of the belt. Dewalt should have developed a better way to install. Belt was put on and used today 9/16/24 on 15yr old rough cut red oak1 1/16 planned to 3/4". Will update if there is an issue.

Tricky to get on. Used a piece of sheet metal to help get it on.

I decided after 8 years it was time to swap out the oem belt for a new one after it started slipping. I come across this pair of belts and thought it would be nice to have a spare. I installed the first belt and before I could even get one board through I smelled hot rubber so I shut the machine off and looked and the belt had ashtray walked itself off and began to melt. Keep in mind this was in less than 60 seconds. So with frustration I disassembled everything I had just done and realized the belt had melted itself into the groove as well. So after a hour of scrapping I now had both pulleys clean I reinstalled the second belt with hesitancy but I was in the middle of a order so it had to work. I have now have run about 200 bf of cedar through and noticed a ticking noise. So after removing the side cover to no surprise the second belt had began to melt as well. So I ordered a new pulley because it's not worth the time it takes to scrap the sticky rubber off. I received the new oem belt and pulley installed them and ran the rest of my cedar and about 500bf of oak with no issue and no signs of wear. So please take my word and do not buy these belts they are very cheaply made.

This belt is wider and fits the gears better than the oem belt I replaced. Plus there are 2 of them. It is tough to get on, I used a flathead to leverage it on there as I rotated the gear with a socket. Have run couple hundred feet through the planer since replacing and everything is working fine.
