Bought a set for my 8 year old grandson for Christmas. Best buy ever! He's played with nothing else since he got it. He received gift vouchers for Christmas and purchased another starter set. He's asked that instead of pocket money could we buy him an add-on every month. He is obsessed! He'll sit for hours tweaking and testing a run and even over a short period of time his runs are becoming more and more complex. I've never seen the appeal of marble runs before but after joining in and creating a run together (4 hours on the floor which my knees will never forgive me for) I get it. It's more than a marble run and so much fun. He hasn't looked at any of the usual electronic gadgets he'd usually be asking to play since he received this. He would usually be talking about Minecraft non stop but gravitrax has become his new obsession.His 6 year old sister is enjoying it too and its on her Christmas list already. Expensive but worth every penny.

My 6 year old and 4 year old spend hours every day playing with gravitrax sets - and seem to only be enjoying it more and more over time (we purchased the first set a full year ago!). Its a bit tricky for the 4 year old to work out how to make a good run, but he loves to watch his brother. Our 6 year old has always been obsessed with contraptions and marbles -- and really enjoys figuring out what works. He recently told us he liked it more than lego because it's easier for him to build more interesting things. I can see why the 8+ age range is appropriate for most kids. The rails are made of plastic, but none have broken yet. You need to set up carefully otherwise the balls fly off the track - but thats the fun part! Beware you might get sucked into adding more and more extensions over time. (The jumper and spiral are the best - the cable car one is the only piece that broke for us).

This is quality. The weight of it reminded me of old fashioned games. It has really strong and well constructed pieces, loads of space for creativity and a few course ideas to get you started. It’s well packaged and sturdy and will last and last. It’s great that you can buy add ons and special pieces like trampolines and cannons. This starter set has everything you need to enjoy playing and designing. My daughter loved this so much she spent the rest of her Christmas money buying cool add ons. The add ons seem like good value to me, you get rail pieces, extra balls etc thrown in with the extras. Gravitrax is well worth the money, fun for all ages, educational, durable and creative. We all like playing with this. Give it a go! Makes a great prezzie.

Its a great bit of kit. Helps kids to learn how to put pieces together and follow instructions. I had my 4 year old helping which he enjoyed. This has the opportunity to let them be creative also. The fun is more in the building than the end result.

We bought a Starter Set each for our 7yo twins. Box says 8+ but with a little help here and there they have got on absolutely fine with it. Really great fun, easy to use, endless track possibilities. Has kept them busy for hours and hours! There is a manual with pre-designed tracks to build, but once you’ve done a couple of those, it all makes sense and our kids prefer to create their own now. As we bought 2 sets we are able to combine all the pieces and make some quite long tracks like the video attached. You will find you’ll definitely want more track than just the starter set, so I’d recommend getting some extra track and one of the expansion add-ons too to make it really great. The magnetic cannon is probably the most useful.

I bought this for my 8-year old son who has always been a big fan of marble runs. It's a lot of fun and extremely clever. It's really easy to use and the manual is brilliant to work through, it increases the complexity gradually as the kids learn how each part works. By the time we'd done 4 or 5 of the set ups in the book, my son was modifying them and extending them himself. He was also gifted two extension packs which are great for adding more elements. I'd highly recommend this for age 8 upwards, even for adults it's great fun! The only downsides are that the base is cardboard and I do wonder if the holes will wear over time meaning it's no longer able to hold pieces in place. It would also have been nice to have a small pouch or box to keep the balls in.

Our kids love building and creating, and they love marble runs. Gravitrax keeps them (and my husband!) entertained for HOURS as they design and tweak and race. The starter set is amazing value and gives endless possible creations. They’ve loved it from as young as 7, and it’s something that will grow with them into adulthood as the creations get more complex.

Bought this for my 8yo. He is enjoying it a lot. He has played with many other marble run toys. He says this is the best so far!

I offered this to my 9 year old granddaughter and she couldn't stop playing with it. She started out following directions, but after about 15 minutes she made her own, more complex designs. I'll get her more of this.
