Nice little Nano player.
In the past I purchase western digital media players. I like to use a western digital media player to hook up to my TV so I can play certain files from my computer. In the past, Western Digital was capable of playing certain files however it never was able to play MKV files for me. I wanted a digital player that was going to be able to play all the different types of file that I had in my computer system. I usually stick with Western Digital, however this time I chose a different brand. I purchase this phone house media player. This media player is micro Nano size. It is about the size of the palm of my hand. I love the fact that it is very small and easy 2 travel with. This media player comes with the remote control as well. There are HDMI output and different SD card outputs as well. This also comes with a power supply pack. I was easily able to connect this media player to my portable hard drive, and play the files on my brother's projector. The menu is fairly easy to follow. You have your finals been you, movies menu, picture menu, and a few other menus. I was easily able to find my files and play them. I played several MKV files easily. Unlike Western Digital, I was unable to read exactly the length of the file when it was playing. Western Digital allows you to see how long a certain file is. I was also hoping that there was a feature for subtitles. Unfortunately, this player does not offer that, well, I haven't figured out how to switch on subtitles. Western Digital did have the option to play subtitles if the file actually had it. So, with this little player I am able to play my MKV files, but I lose my subtitles. The remote control is infrared and the actual remote control takes a button battery. Overall, this little media player does pack a punch and is quite effective.

Comparison to Micca
This is a comparison to the Micca Spec (ASIN #B008NO9RRM)Both units play back the claimed filed types flawlessly. The menu structure looks very similar - as if designed by the same software company. The only differences are the color scheme.Other differences between the two brands are cosmetic as follows:The LED power indicator on the MIcca changes from a dim green to bright red which, although counterintuitive, definitely lets you know there has been a status change. The VonHaus goes from bright blue to extremely bright blue - so bright you will want to put some tape over it.The remote control winner was Micca - it has the best layout of any product of this type. (different from the picture on Amazon and for the better) Since you spend all your time interfacing with the remote this is of paramount importance. The VonHaus is dull monocolor gray buttons and hard to make out - especially in the dark. The VonHaus has a useless volume control (doesn't everyone control the volume of their speakers with their amp?) The VonHaus remote seemed to have a bit of an annoying delay to it and a few times it didn't register. The Micca remote was flawless every time. Very crisp and easy to read print. The buttons are of varying shapes and colors to further help identify the buttons. The VonHaus did include an HDMI cable that the Micca did not.So my choice was the Micca Spec.

as they are NOT smart; if you have a Roku smart TV or ...
Purchased this to use on my other TVs , as they are NOT smart; if you have a Roku smart TV or device that has a USB port, this will support any size flash drive or external hard drive, and to access it, use Roku Media Player . Your files have to be in compatible format .That said, Roku devices with USB port, is the only product , to the best of my knowledge that will power any size ; as all the older file systems are supported, including NTSF , the lastest. Most devices with USB limit you to 32GB , and some are music only ; so I have a, Toshiba flat screen and in our bedroom , the older LCD , a Vizio. The latest Roku devices can cost as much as $80 , and Bluray players with Roku are even higher. Purchasing this card reader box for my non Smart TVs, as this VonHaus is essentially a card reader for your TV .This also outputs to those old school TVs , via composite video (which shares video and audio). This is powered by a power supply and (not USB) and such that it comes with the power supply, HDMI cable and composite video to plug into them old school TVs/ VCRs.Yet this is small enough to fit in your pocket! This means if your preferred method of watching movies , TV shows, music and pictures is a hard drive, this will mount it and display it on your TV screen. This means you can go to friends houses / family and entertain. This supports Micro/SD card up to 64GB , and or, up to 2 TB hard drives. And according to the manual, it can mount both SD & Hard drives at the same time. The box itself feels very solid, and appears to metal casing… .The remote runs on a tiny watch battery; This is perfect for those who purchase your downloads through Amazon Prime , as 1 TB is capable of storing in excess of 500 DVD quality movies or over 100 Full HD movies. Or if you convert your own collection on your computer (ripping) such as DVDfab 10 .1 TB can hold over 1 million; songs; and the best part is that this supports a wide variety of formats… and your not dependent on a local WI-FI connection, to stream your content to your smart TV , via, Plex or Play On…Screen mirroring can be done to play from your computer to your TV , but this is more secure , and your not tied to a computer . Theres no app needed, this doesnt use internet; it simply mounts and outputs to your TV screen. You do everything through the remote. This is perfect also if you have a van with a TV; with the option to use HDMI or RCA , hard drives don't skip; DVDs get scratched up; and if you leave the DVDs in the hot car; it can ruin them. This is a ton of info , but I wanted to explain the benefits of this product and why I bought this; I paid $30 something for this, so its very affordable and a cheaper alternative to purchasing a Roku box or smart TV .For those reading this review if there are questions or comments added, I will receive an email
