Alvarado's Cosplay Pin-ups

I'm a fan of Alvarado's style, not just because he uses smoking hot models, but his themes/outfits have always been on point. I actually wouldn't mind seeing what he could do with male models, or at least more of it (there is one male model in this book), and maybe more normal non-thematic pictures. His shots with real airplanes as backdrops (not just in this book) are also exceptional, would like to see more images with backgrounds instead of white/mono color. When I first started shooting I liked Terry Richardson's style (not his alleged ethics), but when I discovered Alvarado's pictures I knew he was the better artist to aspire to be like. I've seen similar styles, some of which I thought was his work, but certain things just became noticeable, and now I can practically pick out his work instantly. Alvarado is unmatched in my opinion. If you haven't picked up any of this other 3 photo books yet, I sincerely recommend them. I think some of the images in this Cosplay book may be in some of the other ones but there's definitely more content throughout them.

A wonderful book of beautiful photos of beautiful cosplay models. I do have a couple of complaints. Although Mr. Alvarado does list all the models' names at the end of the book he doesn't credit which photos they're in. I know a couple of the cosplayers personally, but have no clue who the other 20 - 30 folks are. Also there are some genre of costumes conspicuously missing. There are no Star Trek costumes for example. Must be a rights issue. But I enjoyed the book a lot.

I love Robert Alvarado in the same way I love Hajime Sorayama and Norman Rockwell. I have bought Rockwell's books as Gifts for people I Love dearly. In the last few years of enjoying precise artworks that I have always wished I had the talent to paint myself, I discovered Robert Alvarado's work.I love Gil Elvgren's work and Robert brings Rockwell like precision and color to Elvgren's beloved pinups. I have seen Alvarado works online that do not appear in any of his books, They may be the same model and costume but the variant is missing from my precious books.For this reason I am begging the powers that be to create a Master Works of Robert Alvarado's genius. A Nice Big book that can be displayed for the rich work it contains in a format befitting it's wealth.Buy this book for yourself and people you know who will treasure it. Thank You Robert for your brilliance and vision.

As always, 5 stars for Robert's images; however, I expected this book to be the same size as his previous three. I have no idea why the publisher decided to print this in a different size, but it was a poor choice on their part; I hope their savings on ink and paper was worth it. The first three books look well together on the shelf, but the addition of the little one doesn't complement the series. The only saving grace is the quality of the images when you open the book.

Gorgeous book! I wish it was a little larger, but another beautiful addition by Robert Alvarado nevertheless.
