Pred Defender

Runs smooth just practice. Really handy. Ran 500 shells with her mounted havnt dropped 1.Edit: using this holder will take practice/technique as with any new peace of gear. That being said I put this in the hands of multiple "newbies" during my classes and they get it down within a few tries. For those with weak/feeble hands complaining about tightness... I imagine you being the guys on the range with your shells sloppily flying out of your China grade side saddles after 3 shots I'm not sure a 12 gauge is the right tool for you.

A bit tight for a shotgun shell, and cant use it with a pump that comes back to the receiver.

Shipping was extremely fast I ordered it and it came to me within four days even though it said I wouldn't be getting it till November 9 .Very sturdy, quality made product. Attaches with two screws that go through the receiver of the shotgun. Make sure you read that if your forend extends over the receiver when you rack it back it is not compatible. I had this problem with my 870 wing master that I bought this for. I contacted customer service and they replied almost instantly. They were extremely helpful and worked with me 100% to solve my problem. I highly recommend this for any person that needs a quick reload attachment for their 870.

I received the Pred Defender earlier than I was originally told, Nice! Also, I have a Mesa Tac aluminum/polymer combo side saddle and the hardware that I had and the hardware that I recieved w/ the shell holder did not fit both. But a simple email to Pred Defender and I recieved a friendly, helpful email and will hopefully get my new hardware in the mail soon. Having just the shell holder mounted I was able to “play around” w/ it and some snap caps. It holds the shell very firmly so I am hoping with some practice and time the shell holder will become easier to use and I’ll be able to load my weapon quicker and successfully. If I had a criticism I would say that it would be nice if we could adjust the amount of tension the product has on the shell it’s holding and maybe use an aluminum backing plate and a polymer shell holder combination like the Mesa Tac sidesaddle. It would bring the quality of the Pred Defender to another level and make mounting it a bit easier (The included nuts didn’t fit into the recessed area on the Pred Defender until I worked them in with a small hammer). Looking forward to trying it out more once I receive the new bolts and have everything mounted.

I want to give this five stars, but I feel like that would be a stretch. that said-this is a very cool little product. I use a mesa tactical aluminum side saddle on my 870, and the pred defense did not fit without being slightly modified. all I had to do was drill about 1/8" deeper in the forward pin hole to sink the Mesa supplied hardware in. once completed, the pred defense sits solidly on my shotgun. to be fair, this shotgun build is 2 parts home defense beast, 8 parts toy. the shell sits tightly in the clips. it is so tight that you have to pull the shell in a clutch-and-pull fashion to get the shell out. it works. I keep one of those brutal century arms shells with 2x .65" lead balls in it. its mostly just for fun, but what else do you want for your last emergency shot when that tank zombie just won't go down?

Bought it cause I didn’t see a side saddle, so I settled for this. It’s been a great disappointment. It holds the round so tight that you can barely get it out. I find it quicker to reach in my pocket than it is to use this thing. In other words save your money!

The media could not be loaded. I found this product to be very fast. With enough practice, you could get sub 2 second reload times.I took this product out to a shotgun class. The weather condition was scattered showers (mostly wet) and in 40 degree Fahrenheit weather. Anyone with shooting experience would know that cold temperatures will induce many different types of malfunctions including user induced. Running in cold weather, I did find that the retention was a bit tight, but it's also a positive because you don't want to be in a situation where the round falls out before you need it the most.In terms of practice, I found the proper way to use it is to use your middle and ring fingers, wrap your hand around the outside and use a full motion to guide the shell with the palm of your hand and it will basically fall straight into the chamber if done correctly. Even in cold weather, numb hands and all, I was still able to pull off loading without much issue. Even for under the receiver reload from a shell carrier was not much of an issue for me, however, I do wear size medium PIG Full Dexterity Tactical (FDT) Alpha Gloves to give a size reference. People with smaller hands might have issues performing this maneuver.I highly recommend this for anyone who needs an extra shell on the fly.

Solid, and from a professional shooter's view, well built. Could use some tweaking and slight modification, but overall and very cool idea for your pump shotgun.
