Simple Shear Cutting Finisher

im a big fan of Simple woodturning tools. i havent yet mastered this tool, but i do not blame the quality of tool. i wish when i bought high end tools they would come with magnet with the tool logo on it, to stick to my lathe, you know, shop decor..... great tools, i love all of their stuff. i made my own handle for this one, which is a very rewarding project. i just need some stickers or magnets.

Dulled very fast. Will try another tip on it to verify. So far my 5/8 Irish grind bowl gouge is better.

Solid, very well made and finished unlike the vast majority of junk on Amazon. I’ve already used this and one of the other cutters I purchased roughing out a couple of bowls. I find these cut faster that conventional lathe tools. The large handles felt good and gave me great control. It took some experimenting to get the feel for how they cut so start with a practice piece. Highly recommend Simple woodworking Tools

Very nice tool. The carbide insert is still sharp after three months of use, and gives a good finish if held at the right angle - if not it's easy to get a catch. The 5/8" bar is turned down to 1/2" to fit most handles. Also, the Harrison Specialties handle is very nice and reasonably priced.

I used my old conventional gouges and scrapers to make the fiest handle. Although I was able to produce a quality handle when I made the next identicle handle I used the carbide Hollowing tool. The tool was easy to control, left a smooth finish and there was no chatter or bouncing. The shortened time to finish the project was noticable. The sanding time also was reduced. Honestly, I really hate this tool. I had very high hopes, but I’ve spent hours and hours trying to find the so called “sweet spot.” I’ve gone different directions, held it at every possible angle rotated, angle while facing the piece, angled up or down, and lower and higher on the piece. Still no good every time. I can’t find any good videos either to help with the process. I believe the one from this company is blurry, so it doesn’t actually show good results. I wish I had been able to return it, but it’s past the return point instead of just sitting off to the side being a purchase with buyer’s remorse. What a bummer.

This thing is great and does just what it's advertised to do. A perfect compliment to my other Simple Woodturning Tools. Highly recommended.

If I get this woodturning tool, I expect I will love it and rate it highly. I was notified it was undeliverable. I have ordered another. Waiting for it to ship. I hope I get it
