Looks nice and works great. That is about all you can ask from a corkscrew. The Hicoup waiter's corkscrew is a better quality and works better than a lower cost waiters corkscrew I own. The Hicoup corkscrew also has a foil cutter which is a better feature than I thought it would be and my lower cost waiters corkscrew does not have a foil cutter. I've had several kinds of wine bottle openers (two prong cork pullers, wing corkscrews twist and pull corkscrews and cheaper waiters cork screws) and Hiccups waiters corkscrew is the easiest tool to use to open a wine bottle. It took me a couple of bottles to get the hang of how to use this cork screw efficiently, but once yo do, it makes it very quick and easy to open a bottle of wine. The foil cutter is a great feature and works on foil, plastic, everything I've run across. A really great product, high quality, works great, nice designs and you can choose your handle style.

I've been searching for a corkscrew that is both attractive and easy to use. Something that I would not feel cheap pulling out at party or picnic, without sacrificing functionality. The HiCoup Waiter's Corkscrew really hits the mark. I now own SIX of them. To start with, it meets all of my expectations for a top quality corkscrew. The "screw" is of the right diameter and sturdiness. The lever is articulated (hinged) allowing for easy two-stage opening. The foil cutter is sharp. And includes a very functional bottle cap opener. The additional "pros" are all nice-to-haves, but they are what make this item a real treat. The HiCoup is superior in several ways. 1) Attractiveness - All of the variants of this item are nice to look at. My preference is the rosewood, but would be perfectly happy with any of the others. By comparison, my reaction to the ScrewPull is ambivalence, inelegant. 2) Bulkiness - The ScrewPull is bulkier and heavier, making it less convenient to slip into your back pocket. The HiCoup, while less bulky still feels solidly constructed and durable. And, yes, I often have a corkscrew in my back pocket. It's shocking how frequently it comes in handy... 3) Stiffness - My biggest objection with the ScrewPull was that the hinge was very tight and hard to open. The HiCoup does not suffer from this. It's not loose, so it's not opening unintentionally, but it's not hard to open. 4) Price - Despite all the advantages over the ScrewPull, the HiCoup is half the price. This allows me to replace all of my super cheap corkscrew so I never have to deal with them again! Simply put, it is the closest I've come to finding perfection in a corkscrew.

Some people don't know that wine corkscrews are not all created equal. They try all sorts of gizmos, most of which I also have tried and rejected. Some wine bottle openers I've used often enough shred the cork, making a mess as I attempt to keep cork crumbs out of the wine. That's sometimes cuz of a too-dry cork or wrong type of corkscrew or dull point on the screw. ISome openers take more effort than I'm willing to offer. Some are not even corkscrews, using some other technique, such as sliding rails into the bottleneck and pulling or twisting the cork out. I have not once succeeded in opening a bottle of wine with that kind of opener (but somehow I've resisted then breaking open the bottle on the edge of a counter (gauche)). Some require more muscles than I own. Some simply don't work for me. The best type of wine bottle opener for me is a "waiter's corkscrew." This has two short levers on hinges ("double-hinged fulcrum") that take turns pushing down upon the bottle's opening lip. The first lever gives enough torque to pull the cork halfway out. Switching to the next pulls it the rest of the way (as 10-speed bicycles have different gears to help create torque). Perhaps my description of the device and usage isn't clear for everyone. if you don't get the image, then go to dinner with a friend and order a bottle wine. Ask the server to show you a corkscrew and how it's used. In particular, the HiCoup corkscrew is, first of all, a beautiful tool. It's not just plastic and metal, but mine has rosewood for the handle (yes plain plastic and steel handles are options). It's so artfully designed that I put it next to the wine bottles so everyone will see it and be envious (no one has admitted envy aloud...yet). The curved handle is more comfortable for me than straight ones. I get more power from my meager musculature. There's a pop-up curved serrated blade with a sharp point that all waiter's corkskscrews have to cut of the bottleneck's foil. This HiCoup corkscrew (yes I've been considering writing a three line, 27 syllable poem about this tool) has a blade slightly curvier than others I've used. Perhaps the blade's angle and how the handle fits my hand allow more pressure at the point so it cuts the foil more cleanly. With others the blade point slips off the foil a lot. I wouldn't have -- actually I never thought -- that such a thing as a corkscrew would be so impressive to me. gg

This is a good tool and a good value. It works like it should and I doubt it will ever mechanically fail. It is nicely finished, and very solidly and well constructed all-round. The high ratings are justified, and I'll probably buy a couple more as gifts. However, as others have noted, the foil-cutting blade is way too hard to open. On mine you need a second tool (at least a coin) to get it out. This isn't what you want to be doing. I oiled the blade hinge and worked it back and forth dozens of times with no improvement. The spring-back is simply far too strong / stiff. All it needs to do is keep the blade from flopping open. As it is, you can't even get it open. This blade is a secondary feature so I only knock off one star. But you wonder - who's paying attention? There's no way that the people designing, building, advertising, and shipping these things could open it either. I guarantee that the nice lady who follows-up every sale with a personal note can't do it. Maybe she never tried.

I work at a wine bar here in California and the place is always packed to the walls with people. I am constantly busy and we net ~$30,000 a night on weekends just in wine sales. My boss told me I needed to start buying my own wine keys (another name for a corkscrew) so I went online to Amazon. I didn't know if I should take my chances on this corkscrew from HiCoup based on all the 5-star product reviews. How could this simple little tool garnish so many raving reviews? It seemed unreal to me. I also didn't want to drop fifteen dollars on something that I go through so often at my workplace, but I took a chance and bought it anyways. I'm very happy and I do not regret my purchase at all. First day using it was spectacular. The tool itself has the perfect weight. It really feels like you are holding something of quality and craftsmanship. With a nice finish on the wood and a comfortable grip, it works perfectly in a high paced work atmosphere. The double hinge is fast and strong with the first lip usually doing the job if I'm not being lazy. The serrated blade is the best! It cut through even the thickest necks of wine bottles and just *works*. The 'worm' is very cool, with an inline groove running along the corkscrew down to the point. i do not know what this feature is for but it makes my open bottles quickly and efficiently. I would recommend this tool to anyone! I would not spend $35+ on another competitors corkscrew since this one works so well. I plan on owning this for a long time and since the company offers a lifetime warranty on the product, I don't think I'll ever need to replace it. Very happy with my purchase! *TIP* When I first received the item, the hinge between the bottle opener and the handle was very stiff and opening the corkscrew was difficult and annoying. I dabbed a little bit of olive oil onto a rolled paper towel and rubbed some into the two hinges, thus reducing the friction of the metal and fixing my one and only problem. I would recommend doing the same if you're experiencing the same issue.

This corkscrew, also called a wine key, has been a great purchase! It is the best corkscrew to use for quickly and elegantly opening your favorite bottle of wine. The sleek, stylish design is unique, and it works like a charm! Never having used this type of key before, it took a few minutes to use it effectively, but you will get the hang of it in no time. Watching a short YouTube video might be helpful for you. The double hinge system pulls corks easily and quickly; I think it is faster than other styles of corkscrews. I have used it several times and haven’t had any issues. This is a great key for any wine enthusiast or someone who hosts various gatherings. It could also be used in a restaurant or bar. It seems very durable and looks attractive no matter where you are using it. The key is solidly built and looks very polished with the shining silver and wood-grain handle. The detailed etching on the silver is also a nice effect. You can fold it up nicely to approximately the size of a pocket knife, so it takes up very little room in your drawer or cabinet. It is somewhat stiff to unfold at first, but you will see that all the hinges are durable and snug. Sometimes it is difficult to unfold the blade because of this. However, you can tell that the corkscrew won’t break anytime soon due to the durability. The serrated blade is a nice feature though. It is a rounded blade, making it handy for cutting off the paper wrapped over the cork. It is sharp and always does the job. Overall, this corkscrew won’t let you down! For under ten dollars, you can’t go wrong with this key! The quality, craftsmanship, and handiness of this item is worth much more. It also shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition. All your guests will be impressed by this corkscrew when you use it to open your favorite bottle!

This performs better than most cork screws we have used. Bought one years ago to replace a metal-and-plastic Rialto, which introduced us to the two stage, split lever action that makes it easier to pull stubborn corks. We had seen it used by servers at local vineyards and bought some for ourselves and for gifts for friends. But the plastic on the Rialto eventually breaks after years of use. Several years back, we found the HiCoup on Amazon and ordered one to try. Then went back and ordered more, as our friends' old Rialto's began showing their age. And, now convinced over the years that these are "bullet-proof" durable, finally got around to writing a review after buying another this year! All lever action corkscrews depend upon the mechanical advantage provided by leverage. With a single action lever cork screw, the upward leverage is least at the beginning of the pull, when the cork is being held most tightly in the bottle. At the start of extraction, the lever handle is nearly parallel to the screw in the cork, most of the force is wasted by pulling sideways on the screw, not up. The two stage, split lever action solves this problem by allowing the lever fulcrum to be lower, closer to the rim of the bottle, when the pull starts. The handle then starts out perpendicular to the screw, and all the force on the screw goes into extracting the cork upwards, out of the bottle. One of the "tricks" with this corkscrew is to realize that you want the handle to be perpendicular to the direction of pull, in order to get the best leverage. This means don't screw in the corkscrew all the way at first. We like to leave about half a turn of the "pigtail" still showing outside of the cork for the first pull. Then screw into the cork a bit further before starting moving the fulcrum higher up and starting the second pull. Two easy pulls: out comes the cork!

Very happy with the corkscrew. It doesn't seem cheaply made. It has a nice comfortable feel in the hand, wood looks sharp and has a pleasant finish to it. The actual screw part turns into the cork easily, metal working parts seem robust with all parts joined properly with no loose or wiggly pieces. It seems well finished overall with no sharp or unfinished edges that hurt you hand.

This corkscrew is very well made and fits the hand beautifully. It is very easy to use and makes cork pulling an absolute doddle.
