ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN PS5 Standard Edition

game is short but there are many different characters to try. as of 2026 game is still very active. lots opportunities to improve your dark souls skills. game runs at a faster pace but is very forgiving with the ability to make OP builds. for two months of weekend gaming online, game was very fun.

Not what I expected, but if you know Elden Ring and how to sprint - this game is really fun. Very fast based, not so much for cave diving - its rock em' sock em' robots. FUN!

It's Elden Ring meets Monster Hunter meets Fortnite. If you love any FromSoft game, you'll get a kick out of this. Having played so many FromSoft games previously, I was very reluctant to try this new style, but it is amazing and very addictive. Honestly my biggest complaint is there is no way to communicate within the game. The only thing that could be remotely considered is the map pin-point system, or the emotes. So having a friend or a discord community to play with is more ideal if you're not planning on doing solo runs.

Game's fun for the first 50 hours. Then it gets annoying

Just got done with a libra everdark fight on depth five…we all had “less likely to be targeted” on, but Libra didn’t summon a raid the entire 45 minutes thus making our equipment (which the developers made essential for this fight) utterly useless. Very, very poor programming and lack of thought regarding this game. Feels like no-one play tested it. Feels like those that made this game have no clue what they’re doing. Miserable rating system.

Nightreign is fun as long as you understand that it is not just more Elden Ring. Elden Ring (and other games) are the theme and base mechanics, but it's very different. As a longtime FromSoft fan, this game was a bit overwhelming at first. The speed of it was a shock, because I generally take my time and poke around in every corner of the map. Nightreign isn't that kind of game. You have to plan on the fly and prioritize objectives. But now I'm enjoying the loop because it's a great challenge. RNG can be cruel and it can be kind, and often times success or failure hinges on such things, but that's what keeps it interesting. Nothing like popping an Ancient Dragon out of an Evergaol on day 1! The different classes all play very differently and the remembrance system is a good one to encourage people to not just main one class. Class balance is a factor to some degree but it depends on the nightlord in question. There's no rigid meta (yet) and it was a great idea to not enable in-game chat. Also a great idea to punish rage-quitters with a cooldown, although I think it is too heavy handed when there are network errors. Gameplay wise my two biggest complaints are the way the resurrection bars are inaccurately represented (3 bars isn't 3x the effort of 1 bar) and the fact that shifting earth notifications disappear after beating the last boss.

*As of Jun. 4th the game has been patched to make solo less of a painful experience. **As of right now there is only solo play and 3 person groups, with duo groups supposedly coming later down the line. Nightreign is first and foremost a rougelike. This is not Elden ring with modified gameplay, this is a new rougelike with a souls/elden ring flare over it. Over the course of three days you will grow stronger, find treasures, and fight bosses in hopes of defeating the main last boss of the run. Every run is a full reset outside of equippable relics that give you advantages. As a pure solo player I can say this: I love playing this game but it is very very difficult. That difficulty however is why I was drawn to this game in the first place as rougelikes are always about overcoming to get that perfect run- every run is a bit more knowledge gained, a new hit on a boss that you couldnt scratch before, a new enemy defeated, a new moveset learned, etc. This is where the decision is on Nightreign: if you want more souls/elden ring you should look elsewhere, if you want a challenging rougelike with a soulslike/elden coat of paint this game delivers 100%.
