End at the beginning
I've read all the Harmony series books but somehow missed this one. I started reading them a second time an found this last one which is the beginning of the three families that came to build the town. A wonderful story about building a town in the Texas panhandle. Love all Jodie Thomas books. Wish she could write faster.

LOVED THIS STORY. could not put the book down...Jodi Thomas is a fabulous story teller. I felt happy, sad, mad, loved, awed....Once again Jodi Thomas brought a story to life for me...I felt I could see the dust and dirt. I could smell the filthy soldiers and cowboys. I could feel the heart ache and pain of the characters. Jodi has a style of writing that makes you feel like you are there as the story un folds. I love the Harmony series and the way she brought the town to being and giving a background to many of the characters in her pervious books is just utterly enjoyable. If you have not read one of the Harmony series book this book could be a stand alone, read first or last...no matter what you will be happy you read it...the only hard part was getting to the end and knowing you have to wait till 2015 for another Harmony story !!!!!!

Fantastic History Lesson
How creative to take us back to the late 1800's and trace the family roots of Harmony! Three major settling families came with hope of a new life, each with unique abilities needed to start a town. Many of us who are multi-generation Texans have memories of the 40 acres our great-grandparents told us they received when they moved to the new state. It is also good to learn about the state pen at Huntsville, sewing factories in Dallas and Galveston and the poor immigrant workers who made our clothes even up through the 1950's and 1960's.We have so much to be thankful for and should never take for granted the life we live today in this great state.

A Place Called Harmony
I have read all of the Hamony series books. This one goes all the way back to the families that founded the original town of Harmony. The way they met their wives, traveled across the country by covered wagons, and decided the way to build the town. It is a heartwarming story of people who are drawn together and become like family. It is a story of hardships and strife that they overcome to build Harmony to what it is today. I know you will like it and want to follow the rest of the people who make up a town called Harmony.

Another Jodi Thomas Winner!
Jodi Thomas always writes a solid book that is pleasant reading for me. Thomas has now written "A Place Called Harmony" to explain how the Texas town of Harmony began after writing books on the town. I love the historical aspect of her stories set in Texas, while she brings the town of Harmony into the present day. She keeps my attention with her interesting characters. When I finish the book, I wonder what her characters, who have gotten to be friends, are up to next and want to read the next book to get a glimpse of them and meet new characters.

A heartwarming page turner.
This is a great story whether you like Westerns or not. Prequel to the modern day Harmony series which I have subsequently read it tells of how the town was begun by a man with a vision and the three families who took up his challenge. The story lines are great and the characters well drawn. for all it is a feel good story it is not 'slushy and mushy' and there are some real tense moments in the book. It's romance with realism and a keeper.

First in the Harmony series
Delightful story of a town, and the strong brave people who founded it. The following books in the series tell of these families and their descendants through several generations. A Wonderful series

A Place Called Harmony
I lovve Jodie Chapman's books. I think I have them all. The only thing with this book , I wish it had been the first of the Harmony series. Now I have to go back to the other books to know about the characters. I cannot wait for the next book. Keep up the wonderful writing.
