This is a gorgeous recording of Rossini's La Cenerentola. Cecilia Bartoli sings the part of Angelina perfectly. William Matteuzzi is a good Don Ramiro,although not quite as quite good as Raul Gimenez from the film. Enzo Dara is the Stepfather. This would make a great gift for any Opera lover. The story is different from your average Cinderella. There is no wicked stepmother. There is a wicked stepfather instead. The princes tutor Alidoro takes the place of the Fairy godmother. And there no pumkins turng into carriages or glass slippers falling off. Rossini is a much underated opera composer. i would reccomend this opera to anyone, as it is sheer joy from beginning to end. Rossinis' music has charm, wit and most of all comedy. Only Cecilia Bartoli could sing this well, and although i haven't yet heard any alternative recording s of this opera I have little doubt that this surpasses them all. Enzo Dar, also is a magnificent buffoon...the CD is worth buying alone for his final Act 1 Aria!! Breathtaking!
