Awesome little unit. Using it regularly and has allowed me to initially get workshop up and going with the added $1000's of a name brand high end scanner. Can't do everything but can do alot. Super happy

This scanner is by far the best one I’ve used for personal use, it has a bunch of features and scans every part of the car, from there it shows you a report of what’s wrong in an easy to use format. By far will most definitely recommend this to everyone I know.

Este tampoco pudo leer los códigos que están en el tablero. Así que compré este escáner, y resulta que sí es compatible con mi SUV. De hecho puedes descargar paquetes para trabajar con muchas marcas diferentes. Sí es algo lento, pero tampoco es algo que sientas que se te va la vida esperando. No he explorado sus funciones completamente pero tiene muchas funciones especiales, como TPMS, asientos, frenos, etc. A mí me sirve para resolver muchos problemas que ni en talleres profesionales me habían podido resolver, así que le doy 5 estrellas

The other day the engine light lit up on my very old model Chevy. Usually that means a trip to the mechanic to hook up the car's diagnostic port to his machine to find out what the error code is. That means not having my car for hours and often a charge for time even if all that's needed is a reset. This time I decided to look into reading and interpreting the error code myself to find out if I needed to tow or drive my car immediately to the garage or just ignore the light for a while. The GEARWRENCH cost a little bit more than my budget but it had some extra features that might come in useful someday so I decided not to skimp. One important reason I purchased the GEARWRENCH brand device is because no subscription is required for updates. A subscription makes sense for a professional with frequent diagnostic needs but for occaisional, once or twice a year use, I think a subscription model benefits the company much more than the customer. With GEARWRENCH there's an upfrant cost for the device and updates are included. You are limited to pairing the device to one specific phone but I view that as a very minor inconvenence and only means a call to GEARWRENCH the next time I change phones. Annnoyances: Entering the VIN code. The GEARWRENCH tool doesn't store it even when it is supposed to. Maybe it's because of how old my Chevy is but everytime I use the device, it isn't able to read the VIN code and I must enter it manually. That would be OK, once, but this is everytime. The screen for the mobile phone app displays in landscape orientation. Once the app is started, it isn't immediately apparent how to suspend or exit the app, especially when I don't use it very often. Eventually I remember, or see, the faint line at the bottom of the screen that will rollup the app. Pairing the device through Bluetooth to the GEARWRENCH app was easy. I plugged the device into the diagnostic port under the steering wheel, checked for Bluetooth connections on my phone and the device was there and immediately paired. The instruction booklet is very short but that's because most of the content comes through the app. The question is how to find what you want among the bewildering array of letter acronyms and menus. There is a big button on the home screen to diagnose the car, and the help content can be useful but, for me, it was easiest to tell my AI assistant what the GEARWRENCH model was and my car model and year and ask it what to do. The AI was so helpful that I found the right test to run in a couple of minutes. The engine light was coming on because the exhaust system wasn't efficient. Some more consulting with the AI and I leared that the catalytic converter might have stopped working or there might be an exhaust leak. Using the GEARWRENCH device assured me that my car wasn't about to drop a transmission in the middle of the freeway and, while I needed to have my mechanic check the converter and the exhaust system, I could schedule it at a more convenient time then reacting to an unknown emergency. I saved the price of the device on my first use. A reader might point out that a national car parts chain will read the codes for you and tell you what's wrong. That's an option, and free, but I like the convenience of being able to do a quick diagnosis of my car whether I'm on the shoulder of a freeway or in my parking space at home.
