Cute way to introduce maps
This is a cute way to introduce maps to little ones by sowing maps from an animal's perspective. I loved how all the maps were combined together into one map at he end of the book. Then you can make your own maps from animal in your area like your pets, animals in your backyard, animals at the park, etc. I think it could be fun to make even a map from an ant's perspective or a migrating animals' perspective. This is a book that is far more useful to educational goals than I had originally expected. I am very pleased with my purchase.

I'm very pleased with how this book is written and illustrated
I'm very pleased with how this book is written and illustrated! It makes beginning map reading very clear. I purchased this as a gift for a now 6 year old. I hope she likes it as much as I do and 'understands' the point! Next up, we need a book on teaching north/south/east/west! Not only for kids, but for the majority (sadly) of adults out there that are clueless as to what direction they travel/look at etc.

As the Crow Flies - A First Book of Maps
A very good book that shares a perspective of maps and map-making that many people overlook. How do animals see the world and how do they navigate? Great illustrations and wonderful text. An excellent choice to help introduce the idea of mapping to children.

nice book. A good book to read before introducing the idea of making local maps, maps of the house, treasure maps for the garden etc with your kids.
