i was really hesitant buying this at first bc of how pricey it is.. but i really a wanted a quality product that works well and most importantly is eco friendly and non toxic. i’d say it works great when i sprayed on my baggu bags. just need to spray and leave somewhere to set and dry.

Maybe I got a bad batch
The media could not be loaded. I really wanted this product to work. I followed what application directions there were carefully. I applied ProtectME to a standard polypropylene rug (about 80 sq ft), using the recommended 3.3 fl oz per 10 sq ft. I worked it in with light buffing using a soft cloth, and I applied a second after 30 minutes (this method is recommended for high traffic areas). I waited over 24 hours for the product to cure fully before testing.Despite all that, there was no visible effect. Water didn’t bead, and nothing suggested the rug had any kind of protection. I could smell the product as it was drying, it’s not terrible, but it’s not pleasant. So something definitely was on my rug, but there was no evidence that it worked as a hydrophobic barrier.According to the company’s own guidance, only certain fabric types require extra product or more intensive application. My rug doesn’t fall into any of those categories. It’s not natural fiber, it’s not outdoor-rated, and it’s not especially absorbent or textured. I followed the usage rate exactly, and nothing in the documentation suggested I’d need significantly more than one bottle. It’s frustrating that I applied the product correctly and still saw zero performance. There’s no coverage chart, no clear indication of what saturation looks like, and no way to confirm you’ve done it right until after it’s cured and tested. If you follow the process and get no effect, that’s not reasonable for $40 when competing brands that have materials that are not identified as harmful and still need to be tested, but there are other nontoxic brands and they cost significantly less than $40 a bottle. If the company’s position is that a second bottle is required to make it work, I think they should provide that, because I’m now locked in. Their own literature says you can’t reapply another product on top of this one for up to a year until the product is worn off, but how would I know that the product was worn off because there’s no detectable effects to begin with, so what am I supposed to do now? This has already taken time, effort, and planning. I wanted this product to work. If they think that a second bottle would work I would be willing to try it, but there’s no way that I’m paying another $40 for it though. I passed up other cheaper options due to unclear safety data, but also that no one had any complaints. In retrospect, maybe that’s kind of sketchy, but people couldn’t stop raving about it and I don’t even have a complicated rug so I don’t know what’s going on here. Maybe it was a bad batch or something. If they’re not open to correcting their defective product or helping me determine whether I needed a second bottle in the first place and helping me out there because I purchased this one based on what little guidance was available that this would be sufficient, then I need clear instructions on how to remove this product entirely so I can start over with something that actually works.

Mostly pros.
So far love this product. I recently bought a white couch that I really love but have two dogs and a two year old. Previously I covered it with towels and blankets to protect it however that looks really dumpy and not esthetically pleasing. Especially since my dogs climb all over it basically I had to put a blanket over the whole thing to cover it entirely which defeated the purpose of having this really pretty couch. I bought the spray bottle to test it out and it has worked really well on the area that I treated. I did three coats just to be safe. Only got through less than half of the couch before I ran out. The product is truly odorless to me so that is a plus. Once dried it goes back to the original color of the fabric and does not make the material crunchy so I love that. Due to having a two year old with respiratory issues and cancers that run in my family I’m very careful of the products I choose in my home and this is the best waterproofing option I have found. The cons of this product is you need quite a bit for it to be totally waterproof and it’s pricy. I would do a layer and do a little water test before deciding if it needed more. I can’t comment on how long it will last or how effective it will be against my two year old and two dogs however I have high hopes!

Unpredictable product and sprayer
I knew from other reviews that the sprayer was defective much of the time, and mine was no different. I had to order a whole new different spray bottle for heavy duty chemicals and swap the sprayer out to make it work. As for the product itself I can't say much. Its performance isn't predictable - on one type of fabric it worked but not in all areas. On other fabric it didn't seem to do anything. I've resorted myself to spraying my sofas and dining chairs down until the bottle is empty and crossing my fingers that it's enough to make liquid wick away. At least there's no chemical smell, so that's the trade off for predicability.

Works wonders
Works wonders! I bought this for my Airbnb to spray in my furnitures to keep them waterproof protected. So far it has worked.
