i love this thing
i love this thing; sure the temp stays at one level which makes it difficult to hit a precise temp if that's what you need-- but i use it to heat up kombucha and for that use-- it's amazing, totally stepped up my booch game. i throw all my second ferment bottles into an igloo, wrap them with towels (i've had some leaks and explosions), and throw this heating pad in with them-- wait 3-4 days and they're perfectly carbonated. the insolation from the igloo and towels keeps the bottles nice and toasty (on it's own the heating pad doesn't heat up super hot, just warmish, so i find the insolation helps trap that heat v nicely). was having trouble getting carbonation because the temp in my house fluctuates a lot, and this heating pad has totally solved that problem. i know its not waterproof, but it still feels pretty durable and sturdy, like it would be okay if the pad itself got a little wet-- i had one bottle explode on it-- and i just wiped it dry and it still works fine. i haven't tried wrapping it around my big continuous brew container because i have that in a pretty warm spot already, but i'm sure it would work great for that too. anyways, love this little thing, great for fermenting (if you don't need exact temps, i just adjust the towels and lid of the igloo if i feel things are getting too hot and vice versa it cold).

Works like a charm
I got this to keep my kombucha at a warm temperature since my husband likes to keep the house pretty cool around 70-72F. This heating pad/wrap keeps my brew at around 78-80F. It wraps perfectly around my 1 gallon jar and is secured with the rubberband it came with. It does tend to slide down a bit but that's not a big problem. Just a heads up that it does a little while to get the temperature up at first use. When I opened the package and wrapped it around my jar, I thought it wasn't working after 30 mins and was ready to return it but just be patient.. it DOES work but takes some time to warm up!

Not bad for fermenting beer
It’s a little smaller than I expected, I purchased this for my 7 gallon fermonster carboys and it doesn’t fit all the way around. I found that if I wrap a sweatshirt or a blanket around the fermenter it works well with my inkbird to keep temps within 1 degree of what I set. Overall it does work, but you’ll have better results if you insulate.

it definitely gets hot.
the heater is fine. i read with “thermometer” as “thermostat”, i guess. it is necessarily misleading just unclear to a newbie to kombucha making.with the rubber band around it, my gallon jar of kombucha got up to 93*. this is a challenge for a learner.

Works great
I almost didn't buy this as I read that some people were having problems with theirs not heating the liquid. Fortunately, I read someone else's review commenting on how it's designed to keep things warm. My house is usually around 65 degrees. I put cool water in my 2.5-gallon jar. Sure enough, it didn't warm it up very much. When I put warm water in the jar, it had no problems keeping the temperature around 80 degrees. I brewed some Kombucha & it worked great. I've made 5 batches with it thus far with no complaints - keeping the contents at a stable temp.

one consistent temp
This is definitely for small projects as it has no temp control. I use it for my second ferment after bottling my kombucha.

My apartment is usually pretty cold so I was able to wrap this around ...
This heating pad has been a lifesaver. My apartment is usually pretty cold so I was able to wrap this around my kombucha jar and I finally see a new scabby forming. The only thing I don't like about the heating pad is you can't flip a switch to set the temperature. You pretty much have to adjust the distance from the heating pad and the jar. Overall, I'm glad I got it.
