Sony's line of E-Mount (previously called "NEX") cameras are good cameras, but they have 1 flaw. The lens mount is a 2 part construction, with the critical component that holds the lens in place made of plastic. This is why many of the lenses attached to an E mount camera are prone to wiggling, especially longer pro lenses. Now, You can replace the original 2 piece NEX mount with an full-metal one. Metal E-mount Function Features: -Full Metal, to improve issues that easy to wear and breakage about the original plastic bayonet. -Life far more 10 times than the original bayonet. -Bayonet precision machining does not hurt the lens. -Minimize lens shake. Applicable models: Sony E-mount series: A7 / A7R / A7RII / A6300 / A6000 / A5100 / A5000 / NEX-3 / NEX-5 / NEX-3C / NEX-5N / NEX-7 / NEX-F3 / NEX-5R / NEX-6 / NEX- VG10 / NEX-VG20 / NEX-VG30 / NEX-VG900 / NEX-FS100 / NEX-FS700 / NEX-EA50 etc. Note: Sony E-mount A7S / A7II have metal mount, without replacement. Package Included: Replaceable metal mount for Sony NEX x 1 Screw driver x 1

Excellent alternative to $40 Tough E-Mount
Ignore the comment that this lens mount is made of aluminum - so is the original mount on my Sony a7r that I replaced. This is an excellent product that is well machined. See no reason to spend the extra money for the Fotodiox name.It is also very easy to perform the mount swap. Just remove the screws on the original Sony mount using the supplied screwdriver, flip camera over to have old metal mount fall into your hand. You will find a second plastic mount under the metal mount that you just removed. Carefully pry off the plastic mount since it is lightly glued in place. Be careful as you pry off the plastic mount since there is another springy flat and circular tensioner under the plastic that can easily fall out. Then place the new mount on the spring tensioner and screw in place. That is it.As an extra precaution, I cut out a small piece of aluminum foil and formed it into a small cup and placed it in front of the sensor so that if any debris fell in, it would fall on the aluminum foil.Takes less than 5 minutes.

Wow. This thing is bad
Went on to my A7r quite easily. Then I tried to put the 28-70mm on, and it almost wouldn't go. Required a lot of force to put it on and take it off -- way, way more than usual for a Sony camera/lens combo. Then, I used a Fotga MD-FE adapter, which wouldn't move at all. I have five of those, and I tried them all. Only one would go on the camera, and that required even more force than the Sony lens. Mind you, I've used these Fotgas on at least six Sony cameras before now, and they never required a quarter of the effort that this does.On the plus side, once I got the Sony lens on, it did work -- all the electrical connections were made. For my specific use-case (using an LA-EA4 all the time with A-mount lenses), I might be able to make this work since I won't be taking the adapter off once it's on. But if you change lenses like a normal person, you might want to go ahead and spend the $40 or $50 to get a better-machined mount.

Aluminum Mount
I received this today and I was surprised by how light it is. This is not brass or copper like most other mount replacements. I will admit my mistake in assuming this would be brass when it doesn't state it anywhere. By the weight, I would guess this is aluminum. I'm not sure what the OEM metal part of the Sony A7 mount is, but I don't think it's aluminum. The whole point of the replacement is to take out the plastic part of the mount and use a stronger metal to make lens attachment more secure. I don't have much confidence in this and for now, it won't be going on my camera. If my A7 mount actually breaks, I have this as a backup. Otherwise, I don't see it as much of an "upgrade" to the stock camera.

Fixes Sony A6000 + 18-135mm zoom rotational play
Likes: - This metal mount totally eliminates a rotational play on my Sony A6000 while rotating a fairly tight Sony E 18-135 zoom ring. With the original Sony plastic mount, I can feel a faint click when a Sony E 18-135 zoom ring was quickly rotated left or right. Though the play did not affect picture quality it was annoying!- Sigma E mount 19mm and 30mm lenses, which do not have any play on the original Sony plastic mount, still fit perfectly, not tighter or looser, on Sony A6000 with the metal mount installed.- Light weight aluminum- Magnetized tip screwdriver included. It worked very well.- Reasonable price.- Easy to install.Dislike: None

By gum it works! Used on A7r
My expectations were low. I understand there are issues with mass machining something like this, and at this price even more likely there would be inconsistencies. But the installation went down without a hitch and everything seems to work great. There is still a slight amount of play in the lens, but so much less than before and all of its associated problems. The nightmare might be over! Even the screwdriver that came with the mount worked great. I will update this review as necessary after taking the camera out for a spin.A couple other notes:-Apparently the metal used is weaker than in the fotodiox mount, but as of now the quality seems like it will at least hold up better than the original mount did. It is certainly worth paying less than a quarter the price for.-Don't buy crappy fotodiox products

Fixed an issue I had with my camera.
A while ago while I was on vacation, my camera bag dropped off the counter-top and landed in a way that ruined the alignment of lenses on my camera. Whenever I took a picture afterwards, the left side of the photo would be out of focus compared to the right side of the image. I thought I would have to buy a new camera. Then one day realized that the metal lens mount was easily removable. Just four screws. And when I took it off, I noticed that the mount under it was just plastic and that part was damaged. This new mount that I bought is completely metal. Replaces that plastic portion with a solid metal mount. I bought the item, installed it, and now my pictures look better than ever. I can't express how happy I am about that. I love this camera and now it's as good as new and lenses feel better supported to the frame. Excellent, excellent product.

I must be unlucky
My copy does not work. After partially installing it, putting in two screws, I tried it. The lens went tight and would not rotate to lock. After carefully pulling the lens out, I removed the mount and tried it on a lens without the camera. It binds and the bayonet will not engage.I am keeping it and will try filing but I have replaced my original mount and my A6000 works fine.

Lenses do not fit.
This adapter is made from metal and honestly, looks good but it doesn't seem to be machined properly. I could get a Sony 24-70 on the camera if I forced it. It was extremely tight. However, my Metabones adapter for Canon lenses would absolutely not fit no matter what. It was considerably cheaper than the Fotodiox adapter so I gave it a try. I returned it and will now have to buy the much more expensive adapter.

Doesn't fit exactly! Tight!
I got this on a "punt" to see if some of the reviews were correct and it fitted like a glove, but it didn't.My old Sony A6000 had the plastic insert and was loose on all my lenses...Easy to install, but too tight for any lens.Started to lightly sand the sharp edges, nearly fitted....put marker pen on to see where it was tight... sanded them down with 1200 grit,....the M42 to NEX mount adapters fitted, but was still a bit tight... after 2 hours of lightly sanding, still not fit especially my Sony Lenses.. no chance! The face has now started scoring from the M42 mount adapter... can't return it now! Will have another go another time when I have time...Avoid!

Lens will not mount.
For the price, I was not expecting a quality finish or premium material. I did however feel that it was reasonable to expect it to allow the lens to mount; it didn't. Probably the result of inadequate quality control (I assume some examples do work). Others might receive one that fulfills it's purpose, but mine was returned and I would not recommend.

How to screw up your camera
Tolerances are all over the place. Way too tight and difficult to even remove/change lenses. I honestly thought I'd never get my lens off at one point. Will cause damage to your camera and lens if used over a long period of time. Just avoid

Good Upgrade for the Sony A6000
Well worth the upgrade for my Sony A6000. My lenses now have a much nicer fit and overall makes the camera feel more expensive.
