This is a solid unit! I will purchase a 2nd.
I admit it... I was reluctant to buy this item. After all, I had tried other tripod based irrigation sprinklers only to be disappointed. They all failed in just a short while because they were poorly constructed and made of lightweight materials.Afler all, impact sprinklers generate a lot of torque when I der pressure. That is not a problem with this sprinkler! This sprinkler tripod is beefy, with a strong, heavy-duty metal base. The impact sprinkler head is also heavy duty brass and all metal construction. The throw distance is adjustable with a metal set screw while the unit can be adjusted to a small coverage area (approximately 15-20 degrees) all they up to a full 360 degree rotation. The telescoping legs are super easy to adjust, which is important if working on sloped ground. With impact sprinklers it is important to keep the sprinkler head level for greatest efficiency. And adjusting the legs up or down will either increase or decrease the throw distance.Admittedly, impact sprinklers are not the most efficient, but they are effective. For my front yard, for example, I can achieve a 25-30 foot radius at half-flow from my water valve and deliver a 1/4 inch of water per hour at the furthest extent of the spray.Properly maintained and stored, I expect to get a decade or more out of this sprinkler.

Very good sprinkler/tripod combo
The media could not be loaded. I'm very pleasantly surprised with this sprinkler and tripod. The tripod is very sturdy, using three-segment rectangular cross-section legs that are easily resized. I'm an amateur photographer and have owned many tripods and this one is sturdier than the still-photo tripods I have or currently own. The only tripod I have that is sturdier is a heavy video tripod. As you can see in the video, the tripod makes it very easy to position the sprinkler as you want on uneven ground. The sprinkler was set up on a hill with about a 20-degree slope, so that's why the three legs are extended differently from each other. The leg spread can be locked in using a clamp on the center column, so if you want a **slightly** higher or lower height for the sprinkler head, you can move the legs closer together or further out, although the amount of movement is limited. The central column does not have the ability to extend, so you're limited to a total height of about three feet. If the central column did extend, the impact sprinkler would possibly be knocked over by the force of the water. I noticed the entire sprinkler and tripod does shake a little (but not much) as the sprinkler is operating, so increasing the center column height may be quite a bit more shaky. As for the sprinkler head, it's brass and stainless, which is excellent. The reach is great (depending on your water pressure), and I'm able to water to a radius of about 40-50 feet. The stream of water is adjustable using a simple thumb screw so that you can have a more coherent, tighter stream that reaches out further, or a more diffuse stream that soaks the ground a little more, but has a shorter reach. My backyard is a little large, so I set it to a longer reach. The 'directionality' of the sprinkler head, the arc that the stream follows, is adjustable with two spring clips, which work as expected, and you can flip up a protruding device at the back of the head so that it bypasses the spring clips and does a complete 360 degree rotation. The quality of construction is excellent overall and I'm extremely pleased with it. I highly recommend it, especially at its relatively low price. It's definitely cost-effective.

Sturdy Tripod
The tripod is great, nice and sturdy. The only exception of quality is where the sprinkler head threads into it. The female pipe threads in the tripod are stupid plastic and threaded too deep, so naturally it leaks. Probably just need to use quite a bit of teflon tape. But still...useless... plastic...threads...

Does the job!
This lawn care product is extremely easy to put together. No need whatsoever to read the instructions. I had it up and ready to go in less than a couple of minutes. Having three heights from which to chose is also a huge plus. I have a very large yard and the highest setting reaches even the farthest points. It has various settings for determining whether you want "wide-spread" watering or watering focused on one area. As for water efficiency, it hits all points at which I point it. It's lightweight and very easy to move from place to place. I can't think of one negative attribute. I'm very happy with my purchase.
