But since I already have one - not a problem. I'd suggest one with an all round brim. this will ensure the net is kept away from contact with neck/skin/scalp etc. The idea of the net is to create a 'bubble' which the little .....blighters cant get thru.There isn't a lot of extra length - and the bigger your hat brim the less length there will be at the bottom. I'm toying with fixing a length of chain or some fishing weights or something in the hem round the bottom. This is to facilitate it hanging naturally and closing the gap round the throat and neck without having to keep tucking it in.visibility thru the mesh is very good. better than I was expecting.All in all ideal for a nice nap on a sunny day or for walking about, and not having to keep smacking yourself in the face.ACID TEST: would I buy again/recommend YES

Do not buy this item, it is a waste of time and money.The net you receive will be a lot shorter than the one depicted in the advertised photo, either that or the bloke in the photo has a head the size of a womans fist.On the packaging it states - "For best comfort, a wide all-round brim hat is recommended". What absolute rubbish! The wider the brim on the hat the shorter the net will be and it doesn't reach the neckline of my clothes as it is, and that is with the net pulled right down onto the brim of the hat unlike the photo who has it on top of the hat.In addition, the holes of the mesh are to large to keep out midges.I have learnt my lesson the hard way, I will be spending more money the aquire a better product.

Utterly useless produce.How DARE they call this a Midge net!Mosquito's maybe, but a midge could drive his family car through the mesh, or even a camper van.A plumpish mosquito may be deterred, except they have designed in a useful hole (not)covering the crown of the head, so you could get a small duck through the "barrier" unless you have something else to stuff it with.Tragically I bought two of these thinking, "how could anyone get something so simple wrong".All associated with this product should be embarrassed.I WOULD recommend this alternative: HIGHLANDER - MID001 - MOSQUITO-MIDGE HEAD NET which did the job, and left me smiling, while everyone else grimaced and beat the air. Hi. I found these midge nets rather small for an adult. The picture shows a gentleman with one of the nets over a hat. If I did that with the ones I received I think the scottish midges would have a field day on my bared chin & neck. I didn't expect much for the price I paid for them, but they could definitely do with being another 3-4 inches longer. The picture also does not show the hole/opening at the top of the midge net either. It is more like a neck scarf which you can pull over your head if needed, I was expecting a bag like product with just an opening to go round your neck.

The field testing of this "Midge/Mosquito" head net resulted in two very angry 'guinea-pigs'.It was and I quote, "a complete midge magnet"The mesh is far too course for Welsh midges, and we all know they are mere wimps when compared to the notorious 'West Highland Midge".In short, I will NOT be purchasing 150 of these for my students, and bye the bye, I have lost the trust of two good field testers.
