I got 7-2/3 great years out of a decently-disigned 5-year product
This is a very easy to use thermostat with a 5-year warranty. It has large numbers for the temperature readout and set-point. Programming is easy. I like the tightness of the swing setting...meaning that as it runs the HVAC I feel neither too hot nor too cold at come-on or turn-off. It's tightness can be dialed-back for those who like a wider swing. Program override is as easy as pushing the UP or DOWN button...and it then will hold the new temp set-point until the end of the current program period. To go fully-manual...you simply press the HOLD button and it holds the set-point until the cows come home---and you change the set-pint with the UP and DOWN buttons the same as when on override. The display lights up for about 30 seconds with the push of any button, and the 2 AA batteries last for years.I had gotten the non-Pro model of this thermostat at the end of January 2017 and was impressed with its design and inexpensive price. It [also] carried a 5-year warranty and started not turning on the Cool around the middle of last month (Oct 2024, I live in SE Texas), and because the Fan and A/C could be hot-wired to ON, I decided that the culprit was the thermostat and went to look for a replacement. This same product (albeit the "Pro" version) came up at a still-decent price and I decided to just get it as a drop-in replacement. I programmed it, took off the old front-part from the wall and replaced it with the new front-part...and my system works just fine. I'll hopefully get at least another 7-2/3 years out of this one. The difference between my original "non-Pro" and the new "Pro" version...maybe Lux can answer that question.

Works well, easy to install
The only thing I found difficult about installation was having to drill a couple of new holes in the wall because it didn't fit the same way as the old one. Other than that it was straightforward. I really like the flexibility of the settings and I had to experiment with them a bit at first to get things just right. I'm quite satisfied with the way I have it set up now. It's definitely better than the one I replaced with it. I really like the fact that it uses AA batteries instead of AAA because they're less expensive. I also like the fact that it has a three-year warranty instead of just one-year. I definitely recommend this model.

Great features, great price.
As advertised, setup was fast and easy. I've installed a few thermostats in the past, so I had a leg up, regardless, I really like this one. Everything works as it should, but I really appreciate the settings menu. I have never had a thermostat with this menu before, and I love it. You can change between 2 or 4 temp changes a day, and between a 5/2 program, or a full 7 day program. My favorite feature though, is the ability to set the temperature sway, meaning I can cut my cooling costs even further by setting the system to allow for a full degree (actually up to 2.25 degrees, but I use 1) of temperature rise before the system kicks on again. I live in a hot climate, and the electricity bills during the summer are insane. I'll take it where I can get it, and this Lux thermostat delivers at an easy-to-swallow price.

Easy to install and use. A great value.
I liked how the instructions helped understand where the wires should be attached. It made it easy to understand. Installation was simple and it works just as described. The cost low compared to many other thermostats.

Unlike other models Lux thermostats allow you to set the "Swing"
I have an steam boiler that heats an old brick three-flat. For the steam to be evenly distributed to all units, the boiler must be energized for an extended period of time. So I need to set "the swing" (the degree difference between the cut-on and cut-off settings) at 2.5 degrees. But most of the current thermostats don't allow you to program the swing (which is factory set, usually at 0.25 or 0.5 degrees). If I used those thermostats, the first floor unit would be warm and the third floor unit would be cold. So I appreciate that Lux thermostats allow the customer to set the swing according to their unique needs. Plus a wider swing will prevent your boiler or furnace/AC from cycling excessively. As far as the remaining features, the Lux is user-friendly and easy to program. Reasonably priced, as well. Five stars from me!
