Unbeatable value; best in its price range
I bought these KZ ES4, with the silver upgrade cable, because my last IEMs were having issues cutting out in one channel, and in short, they've blown me away. You won't find any headphones on Amazon that can beat this for £20; read on for my detailed impressions. Background: I've been interested in headphones for a number of years now, with my desktop setup being an O2 amp into HD 650s. On the IEM side, I've used various 'Chi-Fi' models for a couple of years, which is the name given to a growing category of headphones that are being released by Chinese manufacturers at sub-£30 price points with features previously exclusive to very expensive earphones, such as removable cables, dual drivers and over-ear shells. KZ are probably the most famous and widespread of these manufacturers, releasing many models that are well-known in the ChiFi community, with ever-increasing quality. My past models include the ROCK Zircons, KZ ZS3, TinAudio T2 and Uisii HM7s.Testing Method: Because IEMs are designed for portability, I tested them with my phone as the source (as I would use in normal life). My source is an LG G6, with the Quad DAC enabled and the silver upgrade cable used. For the purposes of this review, I used to following albums to base my opinions (all as FLACs): Kid A by Radiohead, Lateralus by Tool, Off the Wall by Michael Jackson, MTV Unplugged by Alice in Chains and Discovery by Daft Punk.Build Quality: It astounds me that these headphones only cost £20, including prime shipping. For that low amount, you're getting high-quality plastic ear shells (I recommend the cyan colour, it looks great!), with the seams flush and no gaps/bumps. Although I bought the silver upgrade cable, I was also impressed by the nice-looking included copper cable, which is a big improvement over the old rubbery stock KZ cable that came with my ZS3. The cables use the 2-pin socket, which I prefer over the rival MMCX connector because it feels less fragile, is easier to replace and doesn't swivel.Fit: Before I got the headphones, I was worried about the fit because I found the ZS3 to be uncomfortable. Thankfully, the fit is great with the ES4. As all the curves are very smooth and round, I find it sits flush against my ear. The included eartips are the KZ starline, which fit well and are a nice addition; I've previously bought a set separately because I like them so much, thus it's nice that they're included here.Sound quality: The important part of this review. The ES4 does not disappoint, and represents a huge leap forward from previous KZ models and other ChiFi models at this price. The sound is V-Shaped, meaning that the bass and treble are quite strong. However, unlike past headphones, the 'V' isn't very aggressive, meaning that the mids aren't overpowered. The bass is strong, with good extension and a nice 'thump' in bass-heavy tracks. It doesn't bleed into the midrange, which is important for clarity. Speaking of the mids, they are really good for a V-shaped headphones. Guitars sound powerful and clear, and vocals don't sound recessed which is important for the genres of music I enjoy. I'm also hearing a lot of details in these midrange frequencies which I haven't heard before in IEMs, such as certain background noises in 'Idioteque'. The treble, often an issue with KZ headphones, are really well done in the ES4. Unlike other cheap dual-driver headphones, the ES4 is not prone to sibilance, which allows for comfortable, longer listening sessions. The treble is still quite prominent, which allows the higher-frequency details to shine through. Overall, these headphones sound very coherent and a pleasing sound signature that will appeal to fans of a broad range of genres. They're better than all the other IEMs I've used, with the T2s on a similar level but at a higher price point.Summary: When you consider the impressive build quality, striking design, comfortable fit, removable cables, Prime shipping, Amazon customer service and most importantly, unbeatable sound quality in its price range, you're getting a brilliant little package here. Looking around on Amazon, the only other headphones at this price range are either stock headphones that come with mobiles, models from cheap, generic Chinese manufacturers or the lowest end models from big-name companies. Compared to these options. the KZ ES4 outclasses them in terms of sound and build quality, making them a no-brainer for anyone looking for an upgrade on their free headphones or an inexpensive pair to use when out and about. If you pick the mic option, they even become a good budget option for gamers looking for a decent headset that can be used for voice comms and in-game audio.

Excellent. For the money, they can't be beaten.
So, I bought these as they have been recommended on various music sites, as great value 'In ear monitors' for live performance. But they are equally good as ordinary earbuds. In the box you get the 2 ear monitors, the cable and 2 extra sets of rubber ear buds.Medium sized are already fitted when you receive them, with an extra set of small and large in the box.I found the already fitted medium for me, are a perfect fit.Sound wise, I find them excellent, good bass is there, along with crystal clear top end. They do a good job of excluding extraneous noiseWhat is the problem with most earbuds? Well, after a while one ear fails, because you've either pulled the cable, or it has become crushed and damaged. No such problem with these. They have a detachable cable, so if you damage it, you can just purchase another. Fantastic.Make sure you push it all the way into the ear monitor to get a really tight, secure fit. Each ear piece and each cable is marked with L and R.I find them super comfortable, with the end of each side of the cable being of a stiffer formed design. This is put over your ear to run down the back. The cable is a lot stronger then your standard ear bud cable. You would really need to inflict severe damage to lose sound. In place they feel very secure and very comfortable.I am quite frankly amazed about nearly every aspect of these. They have turned out to be everything that other people have said about them, and if I were to lose them, I wouldn't hesitate in buying again.I hope you found this review helpful.

A fun sounding earphone with good punchy bass, decent mids and a somewhat controlled treble
Firstly, I would like to thank Sherry from Yinyoo for providing me the KZ ES4 for reviewing, although this is my first time reviewing a IEM and a product in amazon i really enjoyed the experience of reviewing a completely new IEM.Isolation and FitWhen it comes to the comfort they fit well with my ears especially with the provided starline tips i managed to get a pretty good fit with the medium tips. The isolation is pretty good too, it blocks out majority of distractions e.g. keyboard presses , people talking in the background and many more. Although the fit and isolation is pretty good the design of the ES4's are pretty bulky when compared to other IEM's i bought which may not be good for anyone with small ears but it just depends on your ears i guess.Sound QualityLowsFirstly, the bass is energetic ,deep and punchy and at some cases can be a bit boomy. Personally i am big of a bass fan as i listen to a lot of rap and rock. The punchy bass makes it easy to hear the drums in rock music and makes rap music fun to listen to with a great and satisfying deep sub bass that produces a good rumble.MidsFurthermore, the mids are decent where the male are somewhat clear, not muddy and are void of any sibilance with some recess but when it comes to female voices there can be a problem there as it can be a bit piercing in certain songs especially bad recordings. Also with the somewhat boomy bass it can drown male voices especially in complex songs in rock music with many sounds playing simultaneously. Also Electric guitars are pretty good as they are energetic and are not reccessed.TrebleFinally, the treble is controlled with some peaks in certain areas of frequencies which i cannot determine but from listening to certain songs , although it might be the song it self it still stands that sibilance and pierice can occur but it is kept to a minimal as a i can enjoy music at a high volume for the majority of songs compared to other hybrid IEM'S like ZS6 and V80. In rock songs cymbals are kept from being too piercing but it is sometimes unnatural and out of place in some rock songs especiallySoundstageThe soundstage is ok as it is has some wideness to it but not much.ConclusionThe KZ ES4's are pretty good for the price with a fun and controlled treble this is pretty good for listening to Rap and hip hop and possibly for rock music. I would say i enjoy this more than my v80s as the es4's have more of a controlled treble and fun sound signature.

Great headphones but broke
I love these headphones in terms of audio and comfort. However the mic stopped working after just a little while (outside the return window tho) so i'm not sure if i trust to get this pair again.
