No need to look further, this is an excellent NAS
If you're looking for a good 4 Bay NAS, this is definitely the one to go for.I did take a look at Synology as I've worked with them before but I decided to give QNAP a try.I bought this to replace my dead HP server that was only used with Freenas.I had it setup within an hour, 4x 2tb drives setup in RAID5 and data transferred to it overnight via USB from some older drivesData transfer performance is perfect and it easily saturates 1gbitI did have an issue with the NAS where it wouldn't update but a quick Google search found the fix, you have to update to firmware ending in 1070 before you can upgrade further, it's due to a bug confirmed by QNAP.I use the QSync Pro app to sync my mobile phone to it and the NetBak app on my Windows PC to back that up.This NAS is very capable of doing things other than storing dataIve installed an app called "Container Station" which provides bare minimum light weight, high performance Linux installations. I use this to run PiHole network ad blocker which used to run on a Raspberry Pi and I've not had a single issue with it.If you're looking for a decent 4 Bay NAS, then this is definitely the one to go for.

device died after 2 months
Bought this device to use as shared storage for multiple devices. Had x2 3TB disks configured in RAID 1. Was happy with the product and worked pretty well for the first 2 months. One day, I then found the device would not power on and just died. This may be one of those unlucky times when you get a faulty product, but obviously, this is my first NAS product and hasn't really given me a good impression for having spent £300 on it. The disks I bought are fine and was able to recover the data via software I found online.I will be returning the product back to amazon for a refund.

Great replacement NAS
My old NAS, a Qnap-209 II, sadly died after 10 years of continuous service. I knew I was going to look for another Qnap given experiences with the company, and this replacement does not disappoint. It was up and running within 15 minutes and busy backing up data immediately. I set up backup to S3 in another 30 minutes, configured media streaming in the house all very quickly and easily. Where I had issues a quick google showed up lots of resources and assistance online. The Web UI is nice and easy to use.The unit sits on a shelf in my office and it's basically silent, I don't notice it's there at all. Happy with this unit and expect it'll sit there for quite some time getting on and doing it's job.

Solid NAS with DIY memory expansion
This is a well featured and solid NAS for the price, the main advantage is you can easily expand the memory yourself, much cheaper than buying memory via Qnap. This NAS will NOT transcode for you, it's just not got the grunt. But if like me you transcode on Plex on shield TV for external viewing and internally play native resolutions then with 4 to 8 gig of memory installed it works really well.I just wish that manufacturers used less plastic, my Netgear NAS boxes these replace were the same price but a so.much better built, even older Qnaps had more metal construction. Still for consumer NAS plastic seems to be the standard now.

Potential motherboard issues after moderate use for just over 2 years, not reliable!
I've had this device for just over 2 years and I've always found it cumbersome to use. All I needed was a central location and back-up for all of my files from different machines. The log-in process is lengthy and not very clear, which is why its only had moderate use, the frustration of not being able to quickly access files through it got the better of me sometimes.Due to Covid, I've had to move it home, which I did carefully as you would with any data device and it just never switched on again. I've had it checked out and the adapter works perfect, the verdict was that it was highly possible the problem was with the motherboard. I've decided to cut my losses and leave it, as it's conveniently just 2 months outside of product support. What a waste of money and time this was!

Easy to use
Easy to use NAS. Pair with your own hard drives to give whatever capacity you want. A little over priced compared to other similar units, but appears to handle multiple users better than most.
