I got this for a buddy that recently got a used Passat that did not have a backup camera, and his trunk release handle did not work. I noticed that this unit included both, so I gave it a shot.The factory trunk latch popped out without much ado, just a few retention clips. It took a minute to figure out the wire clip release mechanism, but then realized it is just a very log clip and just needed some wiggling.Connected the replacement handle/camera combo and popped back in the space left vacant from removing the factory handle. It was not a 100% perfect fit, but after some "encouragement" with a prying tool, it seated properly.Now he has a functioning trunk release and a backup camera for the Android head unit we are going to install.

I purchased this to be used with an Apple CarPlay front view camera and screen. Never could get it to work. Unfortunately, it took me a while to work on it, and I lost the ability to return it. I works fine to open the trunk. The camera may work with someone's gear. not mine.

Great back up camera. I got this for my 2012 VW Passat and it fit perfectly where the old trunk latch was. It plugged directly in to my wiring for my aftermarket head unit that has back up camera capabilities. The image is very clear. Overall a great camera for those looking to add one to an older vehicle that did not come with one.

Boygh this back up camera for my 2012 Passat as I was buying a new audio unit and they didn't come with back up cameras. The camera quality is great and fit perfectly where the trunk lid button is located. The only "bad" is that the angle of the camera is just a hair too low. But the camera is still able to do its purpose.
