Awesomeness of a creature
Pros: Fantastic figure, packaging of product very nice, very presentable, I agree with what everyone else has said about this chap, true to film detail and generally very pleasing to the eye.Cons: I noticed in other reviews elsewhere people saying about the one leg popping off, I dont think all batches had this issue, but mine certainly did, the one right front leg seems to have some issues, couldnt quite get it in properly, as a toy this is a bit odd really coz a child would get anoyed with the one leg popping off all the time, but as im not a child, it will basicly sit as inspiration along side my other figures, so this is not a problem to me, bit odd, i did try sanding down leg joint and making alterations but no joy, non the less hes fantastic, or shall i say she, i also noticed, turn the creature up side down and you'll spot it actually has teats LAUGH OUT LOUD didnt notice that in the film. Was quite tough to put togeather, as also mentioned by others, but then thats the whole fun of it i guess, went together eventually, just my thumbs are a bit soar now.Overall I very pleased looks fantastic.

A worthy creature of Pandora
A kid's take on the James Cameron's Avatar Thanator Figure -I bought this figure a while ago, when my obsession for Avatar first sprouted, and have only just decided to write a review of it now.Mattel did SO many things right with this toy, and I can't really think of anything major they could have done to improve it! The paint-job is fantastic, very detailed and true to the movie. My only comment to slightly down this review is that the paint-job on this figure doesn't fully hold that leathery and smooth look the thanator has in the movie. Instead, it is a little rougher and the edges in the skin are a lot bolder. It gives it a nice Pandoran-terrain look though :)Now, for the articulation. One word - AMAZING! That's one thing this figure is especially good for - Recreating awesome scenes from the movie! :D Especially if you have other Avatar figures from Mattel such as Neytiri or Jake, because they sit on or fight with the thanator perfectly! If you do what I did and get Neytiri to hold on to both the thanator's queues while sitting on it, you can recreate that awesome movie scene where she is riding the thanator! AWESOME! The jaw (which I know is a bit of a target for less than 5 stars from other reviewers) goes about as far as the picture for this product shows. Perhaps not as far as I would have liked but I love the way even the details and paint on the mouth weren't spared. Mattel could have made a horrible decision and decided to paint the whole mouth black, but again they stayed true to the movie and put in that extra effort to make even the mouth both detailed and impressive. I've just noticed/remembered something else - Mattel even included the thanator's breathing holes on each side of the body, a trait most Pandoran creatures have. A beautiful detail that adds to the immersion when playing with this toy.NOW I'm running out of things to review so I'll finish off by saying this has to be among my FAVOURITE action figures..and I have a lot. I highly reccomend this figure to ANY Avatar fan, even if you don't plan on playing with it! (But you can't not play with it really..It's just too cool.)

Worth The Cost
We were not expecting such a large, well-articulated, and frankly NEAT figure for the money. :) Our son loves it and it has become a staple in his "battle" menagerie. It was difficult to snap the legs on initially, but we'd highly recommend it. As much as action figures cost nowadays, this is one of the few that was truly worth the price tag.

Soweit OK
Allerdings ist es beim dauerhaften bespielen doch etwas empfindlich deswegen nur 3 von 5 Sternen für ältere Kinder die schon sorgfälltiger mit ihren Spielfiguren umgehen eher zu empfehlen.

Avatar fun
Bought this as a gag gift, but liked it so much i kept it for myself and now is on my desk in the office, great conversation starter. Thing is pretty durable, and if I was still a kid I would be playing with it. Detail is pretty darn good. I wish Toys were this good when I was growing up

Movie accurate, but not flawless
I just saw Avatar a few weeks ago, and after the chase scene with this thing and Jake (first 25 minutes or so of the movie) the Thanator immediately became my favorite creature of the movie apart from the mountain banshees and the Leop..whats its face. But one thing that made the Thanator my favorite apart from every other creature was how violent it was. Once this thing started it didn't stop. So this is what drove me into buying it.Now the figure itself, while looking like it popped right out of the movie, it did have some flaws I found were worth mentioning. First, as you will know, the figure is unassembled so your task is to put it together. It comes in 10 pieces; torso, head, neck, tail, and 6 legs. The head, neck, & torse seemed to go together smoothly, the tail requires a little pressure to snap on completely so that I didn't mind. A very minor flaw I had was while it could open, the jaw barely extends, but this is very minor. The biggest issue I had with the assembly of this figure was the legs. Now granted I've put together many things in my collection so I thought this would be cake. Boy was I wrong. I don't know about everyone else who owns this, but it seemed like no matter how much pressure I applied to this the legs would not snap in. So after several failed attempts to get these legs in, I finally decided to glue them on, which kills the articulated points but it saved me frustration. Despite all of this it does look great when it is assembled. Though I wouldn't treat this piece as a play toy nor would I recommend this for a 5 year old who is natually violent when it comes to play time. This is more of a collector's piece rather than something that can be thrown around the house.Overall 4/5. Assembly is a challenge but looks great when it's all together.
