Great unit, clear bright lines
Quick, accurate, Very bright lines indoors. Love having both horizontal and vertical line features. Laying out a new kitchen - from counters to outlets it sure made the job easy. I also used outdoors for a deck ledger and didn't have an issue seeing line. Still good to buy the special glasses if you use outside of course.

Great Laser!
I had used a PLS system about two years ago. This is an upgrade from that system used. It works perfectly for my applications. The manual needs some attention. The carrying case is really good as well. Works well for cabinet installations. Makes the job go much faster. Best brand of laser I have used.

VERY DISAPPOINTED
For interiors is ok, but if you have to use it on exteriors don't even bother on get this. The light is not strong enough you can't barely see it at 6 feet and the receiver did not catch the signal either. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Three Stars
Worry about accuracy without a pendulum lock as it rattles violently in the case.

Exterior Use in Deck Building
I do a wide range of projects inside and out and finally bit the bullet and bought this well rounded laser. The guys seemed to like it's performance so far using all functions. We work well within 100 feet so accuracy I hope won't be an issue. even in bright sun, we could work with it using some laser glasses. just depends on what you're doing to determine which laser will work best. PLS was recommended to me by a family member who is a commercial steel worker, he swears by them. I'll get my hands on it more in teh coming months but so far it's good stuff

Not sure how I survivied wthout it
This is an indispensible tool. It saves so much time. I recently remodeled a kitchen, and it was useful in so many ways. Leveling counters, top cabinets, made so easy. Level lines for tile. Aligning top and bottom cabinets. Chalk lines and plumb bobs can do some of this, but many things just can't be done without a tool such as this. Bought an inexpensive laser level at HD, returned it as it was simply not accurate. This is. Setup is fast, flexible, and easy.

Easy to set up
I bought this laser to replace an older DeWalt that wasn't self leveling. This laser is easy to set up, the self leveling is an excellent feature. So far I have used it to install kitchen cabinets and set benchmarks for siding. The included detector works excellent in full sun and seems to be fairly accurate. It did take a bit of practice to figure out how to mark a line using the detector. I haven't used the plumb feature with the dot, although I will be using it in the near future. I will add to my review. The reason I am giving it four stars is that the margin of error is more than I would like. I have noticed that over 30 ft or so it can be out as much as an 1/8. This could be operator error as it isn't always the case. Admittedly I am still getting used to using it. The other issue is getting all the parts back in the included box. It is a bit of a puzzle, only going together one way. I must mention that I bought the Pacific Laser tripod too. you will need a tripod of some sort to maximize this laser.

Electronic wizardry for carpenters and such!
Every time I pull out one of my PLS tools, the latest one being my new PLS 4, all I can think of are my Swedish grandfather and great grandfather and how they would have marveled at what they might have been able to do with the PLS 4. I know how to do with hand tools all of the tasks that the PLS 4 allows you to do with its laser planes and points. What I cannot do is do it nearly as quickly, easily and as safely as I can now do with the PLS 4. I've been using PLS tools for about 15 years and have never been disappointed. Buy this tool!
