Pleased with my purchase
Why: I'm not a big hiker but sometimes I need boots for some tasks and short hikings so I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money on boots and these were on a discount. I got them for about 100$. Sizing: I was worried about sizing issues so I did some research and measured my foot and went via JP size (most accurate). my foot is about 27 centimeters long and I'm usually EU size 42.5/JP size 27.5 cm but according to merrell's sizing chart the JP size for 27.5 cm is EU 43.5. merrell's shoes are one size smaller hence some people are complaining about sizing issues. my dad is EU size 44 and got these boots somewhere else (not in amazon) for 45 EU which confirmed this merrell sizing chart. since its recommended to take 0.5 cm up for hiking boots I ended up going with EU size 44/JP 28 cm which is 0.5 cm bigger than my usual size. it fits very well with a very minor room for foot movement just like it should. I was worried about ordering my exact size since I'd might need to use thick socks and then it would be a bit tight. overall I'm very happy that I went with this pick but I'm sure you'll be ok with your exact size as well. Conclusion: I don't have too much walking time on these so I can't comment about that but from the little experience I have I can say that: 1. You don't need to worry about break in period since they're very comfortable out of the box. 2. I had some boot tongue biting my tendons but it can be easily fixed by massaging each of the boot tongues for 10-15 mins and then they're soft and not biting anymore. I'm very pleased with this purchase. I ordered the Earth color.

Seems very well constructed - Good quality.
I've been wearing Merrell Mid hiking shoes since 2016. My previous two pairs were Moab 2, and I've been very happy with the wear, fit and waterproof qualities. Right out of the box, I noticed that the Moab 3 looks to be even sturdier then the Moab 2. The sole has a more aggressive tread and the toe and heel are more reinforced. The fit is sturdy and the insert seems to have a more significant arch support. I read some reviews reporting that the sizing runs a little small, and I notice that they seem to fit snug, but that might be because they are new. Some reviews report that they are not waterproof; as of this writing, I haven't had an opportunity to test that facet. I don't use Merrell's for necessarily just hiking, but more of a daily wear during the colder seasons and inclement weather (although I do occasionally hike with these). They have always been very comfortable, so I am looking forward to the Moab 3. I will update this review, once I have experienced wet conditions and after a break-in period.

A bit heavy but works well
Been hiking and trail running for in winter and spring time. What I love: Super comfy right out of the box—no break-in required, thanks to plush padding and supportive midsoles . Great grip. Waterproof work good. Sturdy build. A couple of things: They’re on the heavier side. Breathability is average. Bottom line: A go-to all-round hiking boot that offers comfort, waterproofing, and reliable traction right from day one. A bit bulky, but solid value for regular trail use.
