Good, but Have to Reset Phones all the Time
This router set up quickly and really works well balancing multiple devices. We have 3 smart phones, two lap tops, two hardwired computers, a hardwired blu ray player, two wireless roku players, a hardwired router, and a wireless range extender. This this router we definitely minimize delays in getting on the internet. My only compliant is that I have to turn off and turn back on the wireless connection on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 at least once a day. It tends to have a strong wireless signal and show that I am sending and receiving data, but nothing will load on the phone. I do not know if this is the router or the phone or how the two interface with each other. I am going to try and add my phone's MAC address to the router and set up a static ip for the phone to see if that helps. The router sends a good solid signal. Not quite as strong as my old boosted 5dB router but still good enough that it covers that whole end of the house. I like it enough to keep. Like I said, it really handles multiple devices well. I had tried another brand router prior to this (I was upgrading my old Qwest wireless modem) and it just could not handle all of the devices.I found setting up easy. I have this modem/router and then I have another wireless router tied to this one via CAT cable. I also have a wireless extender past the end of that router. All 3 devices use the same network name and password. You can cross from one to the other seamlessly. Now if I good just get faster internet where I live...

Great product for the price
My Century Link Wireless AP/router/ADSL modem lost the function of the Ether ports completely. I use a combination of wireless and Ethernet in my home so I needed a replacement for my 6+ years old hardware. I ordered the TP-Link TD-W8970 Router/Wireless AP/ADSL2+ modem. I have a complex network architecture. I use two AP broadcasts, a wireless AP extender, an Ethernet Bridge, an wireless IP streaming camera, a home automation server, a wireless printer, and multiple cell phones, tablets, etc. I followed the enclosed instructions and had my entire home network restored with one hour. The TP-link hardware replaced all of the functionality in my Century link box to include support for up three separate AP networks. Highly recommended.

Save Equipment Rentals with Quality Modem/Router
Attractive dual purpose modem for ADSL and router. Looks nice, provides a little more coverage than I had with a less expensive TP-Link router with a separate modem that was a messy two-unit setup from the service provider. Had some difficulty getting connection details from the carrier in setup, which might be typical for the smaller DSL providers, but I was determined and got it going. I project saving about $80 over a yearly equipment & maintenance rental.I tested the internet speeds out of the TP-LINK at OOkla.com and found them to equal the output guaranteed by the DSL provider. There was no reason to believe that the equipment reduced the Mbps download or upload speeds.

Wireless signal not as strong as expected
I needed to replace a five year old 2Wire DSL modem router wireless unit that the phone company installed. I was having internet connection failures a couple of times a week and I thought it was time to replace it with a current modem/router. I spent a few days reading reviews and could not decide on a purchase, given that most units had similar reports of pros and cons. So I finally chose the TP-Link TD-W8970 thinking that it was one of the better units available without having to spend hundreds of dollars on a commercial grade product. I'm not in a position to run tests and confirm the results of published reviews, but I definitely feel like I am not getting the equivalent wireless signal strength that I had with the 2Wire unit, which is almost always rated low in performance. I placed the TP-Link unit in the same location as the old one and my laptop is located about eight feet from the router, but I can sometimes see the signal strength indicator change from the highest mark to one less. When I use my iPhone on a different floor, I always see the strength meter changing. I could always be assured of the highest strength with my old, less technically advanced wireless router.I don't want to be too critical of the product, but somehow I feel that I should have kept looking at other products and maybe I would have had a better experience with a different choice. I may continue my search and return the W8970 and purchase something with a better reputation or just write it off and spend more money on a different model.

Excellent Product
We've been using this router in our house for a few months now and so far we've had no problems at all with connectivity. Some know-how is necessary in order to set it up, though, since you have to configure it. Just copy the settings from your old DSL modem or call your DSL provider for the information you need. For reference, this router works flawlessly for us with Windows-based laptops, iPad, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, ASUS Transformer, Epson wireless printer, DirectTV box over Wi-Fi, an Airave...
