I compared this sketchbook to one of my others. The cover is the typical cardboard but 'wrapped' with a paper layer that has the cover design on it which is both sturdier and a little bit more of a finished/nice look but I don't expect the paper layer to hold up well with rough use in my backpack - not something I care about terribly. If you're not having your sketchbook travel hard this looks a touch nicer than usual.The size of the whole sketchbook is the dimensions, and the top is perforated for easy tear-out, but this means the tear out pieces will be a little shorter than the full dimensions. This is also negligible to me.My other sketchbook is 70lb paper, and this is 68lb - I can feel the difference, but unless I was planning on watercoloring/etc I don't care. I think wetter inking pens could be an issue, but I'd be throwing a piece of scrap paper under anyway.I kind of like the slightly-smaller size, and love flip-top sketchbooks. I will consider buying a new one after I use this one up.

This sketch pad is a convenient petite size for taking with you on the go. The paper is smooth for sketching. I appreciate that it's acid free. However, I wouldn't call it heavy weight. It's sufficient for sketching but more of a medium weight. The covers are firm to provide support for drawing without needing to find a flat surface, and the spiral binding allows the front cover to be flipped to the back, so it is out of the way.

This pad is absolutely perfect for bringing with you wherever you go. Small enough to fit in a bag or satchel and will be there when you're feeling inspired. The paper itself is thick, perfect texture for artwork.Love this sketch pad, great for spur of the moment ideas and concept art!

My daughter loves to draw and LOVES to sketch faces. This book is smaller and she loves the size of it because it can easily be carried around with her throughout the day. She can pull it out whenever she has free time during her day to work on her drawings. The paper is decent quality and we like the hard cover and back.

I like the sturdy hard covers on both the front and back sides of this top ring-bound sketchbook. The hard boards also have a smooth outer covering layer that protects the boards themselves. The ring binding features smooth metal, so turning pages is effortless.The drawing paper itself is good quality. It has some texture to it that “grabs” pencil marks, so even my ordinary, cheap mechanical pencil with firm lead makes smooth, dark marks. That’s good! The paper holds up to erasing as well. It’s labeled as 68 lb paper, but seems heavier in function.I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this sketchbook, considering the price. It’s not the absolute finest drawing paper, but it’s quite good and a good buy for the price.Recommend!

This is what I think of as an everyday sketch book. It’s the right size to carry with you to sketch, doodle, take visual notes. The stiff covers let you draw without another backing. The pages turn freely on the top binding and the pages have perforations for removal (I find it handy to keep ideas for something together so I always like this feature.) The paper is heavy enough for drawing and it has some texture. I played with a few pens and markers and they do well (alcohol markrs bleed through, as expected) It’s a good value that is not at all flimsy, but not for mastepieces either.

While this may be designed for a younger set, this oldie has taken up drawing/sketching and is a perfect sketch book for me. I carry it with me and can begin a sketch of a view that catches my eye and then work on it wherever I may be. I'm enjoying this little sketchbook to no end and will definitely buy another one when this one is filled.

The smaller 5.5 x 8.3 inch size of this sketchbook makes it particularly handy for my grandson to take along with him on his hikes or outings to capture some images along his way. He was in the Teton National Park last week with his folks and had some magnificent scenery to enjoy looking at and sketching. The paper weight is good so it has sufficient body to provide stability to your finished sketch. The surface texture is good for use with a #2 or softer pencil. It can be erased if necessary without too much damage to the paper so you can once again draw over that region without the paper degradation being noticeable.I am looking forward to seeing what images my grandson is able to capture and create here.
