My wife loves it to pieces
I purchased the Bold for my wife to replace an old Palm Treo 650, she loved the Treo but it was now getting a little dated, she absolutely loves the Bold to pieces.I have used the phone with my pay as you go O2 SIM & my wife is now using up her credit on her Orange SIM, once expired she will get a simplicity contract from O2.The phone is brilliant & does everything she wants, especially diary & contacts which she syncs with Outlook, having a full qwerty keyboard was also a must [she doesn't like my iPhone virtual keyboard at all].A bit expensive for acquiring brownie points, so I just keep reminding her who paid for the phone [it seems to work].

Blackberry Bold 9700
What an excellent product. After months of frustration trying to use an HTC HD2 I binned it and bought a Blackberry Bold 9700. It's reinstated my faith in smart phone technology. I can see why it is such a popular phone amongst business people.Almost everything about it is intuitive and works as you would expect. It's email performance is outstanding and internet access good. The screen is very clear and easy to read. The keyboard is brilliant. For the first time in my life I enjoy texting! The navigation pad works well. I'm a fairly heavy user and there's no sign of wear after about 10 weeks use (as you'd hope). Navigating around the phone's features is very simple. One of the features worth mentioning is that, whilst you are on a call, you can access any other feature on the phone (e.g. contacts, Excel spreadsheet).I've downloaded an app called Documents2Go so I can read and edit Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. This means I can use Excel to work out a quotes for my customers whilst they on the phone (I used to carry a separate PDA to do that).Bluetooth handsfree calling works well.I do have a couple of problems.1. The Calendar doesn't sync fully. I haven't spent any time trying to sort it out. It maybe that I have a lot of very old recurring events that it doesn't like (my desktop computer is Windows 7 and Office 2010 but these recurring events were set up years ago on Office 2000)2. Most annoying is that the alarm doesn't work! The problem with this simple function seems completely at odds with the way the phone copes effortlessly with far more complex tasks. The alarm is a Calendar function (not a time function as you might expect). It's easy to set but when the set time arrives the alarm is displayed but the phone doesn't make any noise. Not too good for an alarm! I've tried to find a solution...so far unsuccessfully. Any advice gratefully received.Overall, though, an excellent product fully recommended.

I went for something different and am I glad I did!
I've just got the 9700, it was a bit of an odd choice for me,i'd usually be looking for the latest gimmicks and gadgets but having realised I usually get fed up playing with the phone after the first few hours and getting annoyed with battery life, call quality, e-mail, reliability etc, I went for something different and am I glad I did!The 9700 does exactly what I want and what it's supposed to do it does to prefection! The battery is fantastic, so easy and quick to type on, call quality is superb and get's a fantasic 3G signal where all my other phones have failed miserably,.I feel I should have picked a Blackberry earlier, I'm not really sold on big, touch screen devices, I certainly can't type anywhere near as fast on a touch screen as this Blackberry, clicking on links etc is so much easier with the trackpad.I'd also highly recommend one of these which compliments the 9700 perfectly. BlackBerry 9700/8900 Leather Pocket - BlackThis Blackberry just works. Beautifully.

was expecting more!
for the money BB are asking for this phone it should have been amazing but it wasnt,it's not a bad phone but could have been loads better, the interface is very poor,it needs a whole new operating system,my last phone was a dream to use from day one(sony ericsson) whereas this is not, just doing simple tasks like sending a text is made harder than it should be,it asks for the first letter off the name the text is for then gives you a choice to pick from, then it asks if you want to send the text to anyone else,so you have to scroll down to "no" which all takes time, the sample music video on the phone showed clear signs of lag,the home screen photo was poor looking and "flat" ,I can see there being a problem with the trackpad and the 2 buttons next to it,after a short while, the plastic seemed of low quality and didn't have a quality feel to it,the sound of the ring tones etc were to me again poor, they had a "holo" sound to them, and I missed a few texts because of it,I only tried the camera a few times but of those the pics where blurred even from a still object,if you are thinking about buying one of these it would be better to wait untill they are atleast half the price of what they are now,as at the full price they are just not worth the money.

Best Blackberry so far
I got this one as a replacement for the previous Bold, the 9000, after seriously considering other options (HTC Desire, HD2, and iPhone 3GS). Having tried all of those, however, I need to say that if you are using email on the go a lot, get a Blackberry, and get this one. It is fast, the OS is reliable, the keyboard is convenient, and the trackpad that replaced the trackball is surprisingly good.

Wonderful Phone for a world traveler
This phone is great for someone like me who needs to switch sim cards while traveling. It works everywhere and I get my email wherever I am. The screen is not too big, but not too small and vibrant. At first I didn't like the new trackball, but after a week of using it, it is so much better than the old trackball that would get stuck, and not point where you wanted. The biggest drawback is setup. You have to get the blackberry service in some country first. The old blackberry's would let you just have internet and run everything from that. Now you have to get the BB internet service from a provider for the Gmail and other email accounts come up. This can be expensive, but the service is great when you have it.All in all, I would recommend this to anyone who can use a smartphone to simplify their life. It never stops and needs a restart like windows machines, and offers better security than droid.

Just Perfect!
What I can say about a Blackberry, it's just perfect.just opened the box, plugged the battery and the sim card and it started to work. After few wizard screens I could make some calls and browse the web. It's very easy to setup an e-mail account. This phone is unlocked, so I just inserted my sim card and worked fine. The quality of the voice are fantastic! and the keyboard is designed in a way that your fingers can hit the correct key, making your type better and faster. It's amazing the way that your thumb fits the letters. The cam can take nice pics, but it's just 3mp , if you are a maniac for pics, I would recommend another smartphone/BB model with 5mp or higher (if exists). The screen has a nice quality.I tottaly recommend this cell.

I just love it!
It's my first Blackberry and I was a little afraid about some bad reviews... but this BB works for me wonderfully. I love the keypad, the screen is nice and after some days getting used to the BB world, I'm totally addict. I don't use it for work, only to get in touch via BBM with my friends all over the worlds as I don't leave in my country, and it is perfect for me. The applications work fast, the battery last a good 2 days if I use the phone a lot, and 3 days if not.I don't know how I was living without it before ;-)
