I was given an expensive foldable genuine panama which fitted at first but then seem to shrink. The Hat Mate was the answer. At first the hat would revert to its shrunken size, but after repeated steamings and stretchings (alternately fore-and-aft and east-to-west) it now fits very comfortably. In fact I leave it on the Hat mate between wearings to keep it in shape. Simple, easy to use, robust, nice chunk of wood -- definitely recommended.

Doesn't cost that much and you get what you pay for. It's okay, makes a cap longer. If you can pay a bit more then a four way stretcher gives much better results.

The hat stretcher does what it says on the tin. With felt hats, I find applying a bit of steam and expanding the hat stretcher is effective, especially if left over night. The included brush is a nice bonus.
